Astronaut Scholarship Foundation Created by 6 surviving Mercury 7 astronauts, ASF provides scholarships to college students in STEM.

The Astronaut Scholarship Foundation exists to help the United States retain its position of leadership in innovation by encouraging students to pursue advanced educations and careers in the STEM fields. We do this by awarding scholarships to the best and brightest minds and by building a mentoring network that allows our Astronaut Scholars to connect with astronauts, each other, and innovative technology leaders throughout the nation. The prestigious Astronaut Scholarship is known for being among the most significant scholarships awarded to undergraduate STEM students.

One week on Mars… kind of. 👀🚀

2025 Florida Institute of Technology Astronaut Scholar Peyton Hay and 2024 Florida Tech Astronaut Scholar McKenna Taylor took part in an analog astronaut mission at MDRS - Mars Desert Research Station, spending a week living and working inside the habitat while simulating a mission to the Red Planet.

Peyton stepped into the role of Commander, while McKenna served as Crew Scientist—working together to navigate the challenges of life on a simulated Mars mission.

A little taste of Mars today. Who knows where their journeys will take them next? 🚀✨

What a special day at the University of Central Florida! 💫

The Astronaut Scholarship Foundation recently joined veteran NASA Astronaut Mike Foreman on the UCF campus to recognize 2026 Astronaut Scholars Keanu Brayman and Joshua Taggart. While 2026 Astronaut Scholar Kyle Coutray was away on an internship and unable to attend, we were thrilled to celebrate his achievement as well!

The ceremony was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the curiosity, perseverance and passion that define our Astronaut Scholars while also hearing firsthand insights from a spaceflight veteran. 🚀

The University of Central Florida Astronaut Scholar Award is sponsored by Qorvo, Inc. and matching funds from the University of Central Florida.
