The Astronaut Scholarship Foundation exists to help the United States retain its position of leadership in innovation by encouraging students to pursue advanced educations and careers in the STEM fields. We do this by awarding scholarships to the best and brightest minds and by building a mentoring network that allows our Astronaut Scholars to connect with astronauts, each other, and innovative te

ASF is happy to join the Canaveral Council of Technical Societies for the Space Visions Symposium #3: First Steps to Settlement in Space on September 11 in Rockledge, Florida!

The symposium brings together engineers, scientists and industry leaders to explore the technologies, infrastructure and systems needed to build a thriving community in Low Earth Orbit—and ultimately expand humanity’s presence beyond Earth.

From space construction and transportation to logistics and spacecraft services, the conversation is focused on the future of space settlement.

When NASA’s Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope launched on August 30, it marked a major milestone in our quest to better understand dark energy, exoplanets and the universe around us. ✨

But for 2014 University of Arizona Astronaut Scholar Benjamin Cromey, the journey to this moment started years ago.

As a Senior Principal Optical Engineer at BAE Systems Space and Mission Systems, Ben has spent the past four years working on the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope — helping bring this groundbreaking observatory from concept to reality and, ultimately, to space.

Congratulations to Ben, his team and everyone whose dedication and ingenuity made this incredible mission possible!

We’re proud to see Astronaut Scholars like Ben turning their expertise and curiosity into innovations that expand our understanding of the universe. 💫

It actually IS rocket science! 🚀

The next generation of engineers, innovators and explorers is getting ready to launch with NASA’s Student Launch Challenge.

This hands-on, 9-month challenge gives students in grades 6–12 and college and university teams the opportunity to design, build, test and launch high-powered rockets carrying scientific or engineering payloads. Teams experience the engineering process firsthand, work alongside NASA and aerospace industry experts, and ultimately put their designs to the test in Huntsville, Alabama.

It’s more than a rocket launch—it’s an opportunity to turn curiosity into innovation and inspire the STEM leaders of tomorrow. 🌎
