Revived Soldiers Ukraine programs are mostly focused on medical rehabilitation as the reflection of the most urgent needs. Current initiatives include:

- Assisting severely injured soldiers to receive medical help and rehabilitation in other countries
- Promoting cooperation between USA and Ukraine as to mutually beneficial social and economic programs in both countries
- Helping hospitals treat

those wounded in ATO conflict by supplying emergency medical aid and supplies
- Supporting children and women in their right to a healthy living.
- Satisfying housing needs to soldiers of Ukraine and their families.

❤️‍🩹 After 9 surgeries in Ukraine and facing a very real risk of amputation, the Revived Soldiers Ukraine team helped save the left leg of severely wounded Ukrainian serviceman Serhii Serhiienko. In June 2026, he successfully completed complex reconstructive medical treatment at Penn Medicine in Philadelphia and returned home to Ukraine!

Serhii was born into a military family and from an early age combined his love of music with service to his country. He graduated from the Military Conducting Department in Lviv and served for many years at the Air Force Military Music Center of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Throughout his career, he participated in 14 Independence Day military parades, dozens of concerts, international missions, and performances around the world.

When Russia’s war against Ukraine began in 2014, his orchestra carried out the solemn duty of performing at the funerals of fallen service members. Following the start of the full-scale invasion, Serhii did not hesitate to take on combat-related duties. He initially served in air defense units and, in 2024, transferred to the 77th Separate Airmobile Assault Brigade.

In January 2025, near Lozova in the Kharkiv region, Serhii sustained devastating injuries during an enemy attack. Shrapnel struck his head, torso, and limbs, with his left leg suffering the most severe damage. His evacuation lasted more than a day and a half, marking the beginning of a long fight to avoid amputation.

Over the following 10 months, Serhii underwent treatment in Ukraine. During that time, he endured 9 surgeries. However, due to a significant bone defect and a persistent infection, the risk of losing his left leg remained extremely high.

✈️ In October 2025, Revived Soldiers Ukraine evacuated Serhii to Philadelphia for advanced medical treatment. He was one of six severely wounded Ukrainian service members transported to the United States aboard a private Bombardier Global 6000 jet during the largest and most complex medical evacuation mission in our organization’s history.

🫡 We are also deeply grateful to the Medical Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Командування Медичних сил Збройних Сил України for providing comprehensive medical and administrative support throughout the evacuation process.

In Philadelphia, Serhii began treatment under the care of leading orthopedic trauma surgeon Jean-Claude Gregoire D’Alleyrand and the outstanding medical specialists at Penn Medicine. The primary goal was to save his left leg and reconstruct the extensive bone loss resulting from his injury, multiple surgeries, and infectious complications.

In total, Serhii underwent three major surgeries in the United States.

During the first stage, surgeons evaluated and prepared the blood vessels in the injured leg for future reconstruction.

The second stage involved removing the previous fixation hardware, replacing the spacer, and inserting an intramedullary fixation rod.

The third and most critical stage was a complex reconstructive surgery lasting more than eight hours. During this procedure, surgeons:

🔹 harvested bone graft material from Serhii’s pelvis and right leg for reconstruction of his left leg;
🔹 added donor bone graft material;
🔹 removed the temporary spacer;
🔹 filled the significant bone defect in his left leg using his own bone tissue.

This surgery became the decisive step in preserving his limb.

Most importantly, the medical team was able to fully eliminate the infection. No signs of infection were detected, significantly improving the chances of successful recovery and long-term limb preservation.

American specialists also evaluated Serhii’s left arm, which had been injured during the attack. After careful consultation, it was determined that no additional surgical intervention was necessary at this time.

His postoperative recovery progressed well. Surgical staples and sutures were gradually removed, and Dr. Jean-Claude Gregoire D’Alleyrand was pleased with the healing process. Follow-up examinations and imaging studies demonstrated positive progress in bone regeneration and successful incorporation of the bone graft.

In June, the surgical team was satisfied with Serhii’s recovery and cleared him to return home to Ukraine to continue his rehabilitation.

💪 Serhii will now continue his recovery at our Next Step Ukraine medical rehabilitation center. The most difficult stage of the fight to save his leg is now behind him.

❤️‍🩹 Після 9 операцій в Україні та реальної загрози ампутації команда Revived Soldiers Ukraine допомогла врятувати ліву ногу важкопораненому воїну Сергію Сергієнку. У червні 2026 року він успішно завершив складне реконструктивне лікування у Penn Medicine Філадельфія та повернувся додому в Україну!

Сергій народився у родині військового та з дитинства поєднував любов до музики зі служінням Батьківщині. Він закінчив військово-диригентську кафедру у Львові та багато років служив у Центрі військово-музичного мистецтва Повітряних Сил ЗСУ. За його плечима — 14 парадів до Дня Незалежності України, десятки концертів, міжнародні місії та виступи по всьому світу.

Із початком війни у 2014 році його оркестр виконував почесну місію на похованнях загиблих захисників. А після початку повномасштабного вторгнення Сергій без вагань долучився до виконання бойових завдань. Спочатку служив у підрозділах протиповітряної оборони, а у 2024 році перевівся до 77-ї окремої аеромобільної десантно-штурмової бригади.

У січні 2025 року поблизу Лозової на Харківщині Сергій зазнав надважкого поранення під час ворожого обстрілу. Уламки вразили голову, тулуб і кінцівки, однак найбільших ушкоджень зазнала ліва нога. Евакуація тривала понад півтори доби, після чого розпочалися довгі місяці боротьби за шанс уникнути ампутації.

Протягом наступних 10 місяців Сергій проходив лікування в Україні. За цей час він переніс 9 операцій, однак через значний дефект кістки та інфекційний процес загроза втрати лівої ноги залишалася надзвичайно високою.

✈️ У жовтні 2025 року команда Revived Soldiers Ukraine евакуювала Сергія до Філадельфії. Він став одним із шести важкопоранених українських військових, яких доставили до США на борту приватного літака Bombardier Global 6000 під час найбільшої та найскладнішої медичної евакуації в історії нашої організації.

У Філадельфії Сергій розпочав лікування під наглядом провідного хірурга Jean-Claude Gregoire D’Alleyrand та найкращих американських спеціалістів Penn Medicine. Головною метою було зберегти ліву ногу та відновити значний кістковий дефект, який залишився після поранення, численних операцій та інфекційних ускладнень.

Загалом у США Сергій переніс три складні операції.

Під час першого етапу лікарі провели дослідження та підготовку судин пошкодженої ноги до подальшої реконструкції.

Другий етап передбачав демонтаж попередньої фіксуючої конструкції, заміну спейсера та встановлення інтрамедулярного фіксуючого стрижня.

Ключовим етапом лікування стала третя реконструктивна операція тривалістю понад 8 годин. Під час неї лікарі:

🔹 виконали забір власного кісткового матеріалу з тазу та правої ноги Сергія для реконструкції лівої кінцівки;
🔹 додали донорський кістковий матеріал;
🔹 видалили тимчасовий спейсер;
🔹 заповнили значний кістковий дефект лівої ноги власною кістковою тканиною пацієнта.

Саме ця операція стала вирішальним етапом у боротьбі за збереження кінцівки.

Найважливішим результатом стало те, що лікарям вдалося повністю взяти під контроль інфекційний процес — жодних ознак інфекції виявлено не було, що суттєво підвищило шанси на успішне відновлення ноги.

Також американські спеціалісти обстежили ліву руку, яка постраждала внаслідок поранення. Після консультацій було ухвалено рішення, що додаткове оперативне втручання наразі не потрібне.

Післяопераційний період проходив стабільно. Сергію поступово зняли медичні скоби та шви, а хірург Jean-Claude Gregoire D’Alleyrand відзначив хороше загоєння після операції. Контрольні рентгенівські обстеження підтвердили позитивну динаміку відновлення та формування нової кісткової тканини.

У червні американські хірурги залишилися задоволеними результатами лікування та дозволили Сергію повернутися додому в Україну для продовження реабілітації.

💪 Попереду на Сергія чекає відновлення у нашому центрі медичної реабілітації NextStep Ukraine. Водночас найскладніший етап боротьби за збереження його кінцівки вже позаду.

🩺🇺🇸 With the support of Revived Soldiers Ukraine and the Medical Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Командування Медичних сил Збройних Сил України, the Chief Surgeon of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel of the Medical Service Kostiantyn Humeniuk, and Lieutenant Colonel of the Medical Service Artem Kobirnichenko have successfully completed a 10-day robotic surgery training program at University of Illinois Chicago Hospital.

Thanks to UIC Hospital, the Ukrainian military surgeons were given the opportunity to complete a robotic surgery course on the da Vinci Xi and da Vinci 5 systems free of charge. The full value of the training exceeded $20,000. Revived Soldiers Ukraine covered $12,000 in travel, accommodation, and meal expenses for the physicians during their stay in the United States.

The training focused on performing surgical procedures using the da Vinci Xi and da Vinci 5 robotic systems and included intensive hands-on experience in one of the largest robotic surgery laboratories in the United States. The Ukrainian surgeons trained under the supervision of UIC Hospital surgeon and RSU Medical Director Dr. Yevhen Pavelko, Chandra Hassan, and other American colleagues. Over the course of 10 days, they practiced on the da Vinci Xi and da Vinci 5 systems using cadavers and porcine models. They also observed live robotic-assisted surgical procedures in operating rooms.

‼️ Importantly, later this year, Intuitive Surgical, with the support of Revived Soldiers Ukraine, will transfer the first certified da Vinci Xi robotic surgical system to the Kyiv Military Hospital. The value of the system exceeds $2,000,000. Our organization will also cover the annual service and maintenance costs of $150,000.

At the same time, the Revived Soldiers Ukraine team has already begun renovation work to prepare an operating room and sterilization facility at the Kyiv Military Hospital for the installation of the da Vinci Xi robotic system.

The combination of state-of-the-art robotic technology and advanced training for Ukrainian military surgeons at UIC Hospital will enable the implementation of cutting-edge surgical techniques directly in Ukraine, allowing for highly complex procedures with reduced trauma to patients and significantly improving treatment outcomes for severely wounded service members.

In addition, during this visit, a collaborative partnership was established between Ukrainian and American surgeons to facilitate ongoing exchanges of expertise in surgery, treatment strategies, and rehabilitation for patients with severe traumatic injuries.

This training program held special significance because of the story of our hero, Volodymyr Shkul of the 156th Separate Mechanized Brigade. In October 2025, Volodymyr was evacuated from the Lviv Military Hospital to the United States as part of the largest and most complex medical evacuation mission carried out by Revived Soldiers Ukraine, which transported six severely wounded Ukrainian service members aboard a private Bombardier Global 6000 aircraft. We extend our sincere gratitude to Melanie Kelfer and Operation Mordechai for their support in organizing this flight and helping cover a portion of the associated costs.

For the past seven months, Volodymyr has been undergoing medical and prosthetic treatment and rehabilitation in the United States through Revived Soldiers Ukraine at UIC Hospital under the medical supervision of surgeon Dr. Yevhen Pavelko.
More than six months of treatment, extensive diagnostic evaluations, and rehabilitation at New Summit Rehabilitation and Healthcare produced remarkable results, allowing Volodymyr to gain 12 kilograms and prepare for the next stage of his recovery. On May 28, 2026, he successfully underwent a complex robotic colostomy reversal procedure. The operation was performed by one of the world’s leading experts in robotic surgery, Professor Pier Cristoforo Giulianotti.

The Ukrainian military surgeons were given the opportunity to attend the operation, observe Professor Giulianotti’s work firsthand, discuss surgical strategies, and gain invaluable practical experience. For Volodymyr, the presence of Ukrainian physicians during this critical moment also provided important moral support.

💔 Last night, russia cynically killed rescuers who had arrived to save people in Kharkiv and also struck the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra

Last night, the enemy carried out a massive aerial attack against Ukraine, launching 611 attack drones and 70 missiles of various types. Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Sumy Oblast, and other regions of Ukraine came under attack. Civilians were killed and injured, while residential buildings, civilian infrastructure, and cultural heritage sites were damaged and destroyed.

One of the targets of the attack was the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra — the spiritual heart of Ukraine and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

As a result of the russian strike, the territory of the National Kyiv-Pechersk Historical and Cultural Preserve was damaged. The blast wave damaged the cornice of the main apse of the Dormition Cathedral — the principal church of the Lavra, which is a symbol of Ukraine’s spiritual heritage and one of the most renowned Orthodox churches in the world.

The strike on Mystetskyi Arsenal — one of Ukraine’s leading contemporary cultural institutions — was yet another indication that Russia is waging war not only against the Ukrainian state, but also against Ukrainian culture, history, and national identity. The Dovzhenko Film Studio was also damaged, resulting in the loss of a unique costume collection that preserved the history of Ukrainian cinema and theater.

Equally horrific events unfolded in Kharkiv.

After one of the strikes, State Emergency Service rescuers arrived at the scene. They were extinguishing fires, clearing debris, and searching for victims. It was at that moment that Russia launched a second strike on the site of the rescue operation.

The enemy deliberately targeted those who were saving lives.

This tactic is known as a “double tap” strike and is being used by russia with increasing frequency against Ukrainian cities. Its purpose is not only to cause more casualties, but also to spread fear among those who are the first to respond and help after a tragedy.

Today, the nature of russian terror is evolving and becoming even more cynical.

It is a systematic campaign of intimidation aimed at destroying Ukrainian identity, culture, and faith in a safe future.

We extend our deepest condolences to the families of all those killed and injured.

And we thank every Ukrainian rescuer, medic, service member, and volunteer who continues to carry out their duty every day, even when they themselves become targets of the enemy.

The world has no right to become accustomed to this.

The world has no right to remain silent.

💔 Цієї ночі росія цинічно вбила рятувальників, які приїхали рятувати людей у Харкові, а також вдарила по Києво-Печерській Лаврі

Сьогодні вночі ворог здійснив масштабну повітряну атаку на Україну, застосувавши 611 ударних безпілотників та 70 ракет різних типів. Під ударами опинилися Київ, Харків, Дніпро, Сумщина та інші регіони України. Загинули та були поранені мирні люди, зруйновані житлові будинки, цивільна інфраструктура та об’єкти культурної спадщини.

Однією із цілей атаки стала Києво-Печерська лавра — духовне серце України та пам’ятка світового значення ЮНЕСКО.

Внаслідок російського удару було пошкоджено територію Національного заповідника «Києво-Печерська лавра». Ударна хвиля пошкодила карниз головної апсиди Успенського собору — головного храму Лаври, який є символом української духовної спадщини та одним із найвідоміших православних храмів світу.

Удар по «Мистецькому Арсеналу» — одному з головних сучасних культурних центрів України — став черговим свідченням того, що росія веде війну не лише проти української держави, а й проти української культури, історії та національної пам’яті. Пошкодження також отримала кіностудія Довженка, де було втрачено унікальну колекцію костюмів, що зберігала історію українського кіно та театру.

Не менш жахливі події розгорнулися у Харкові.

Після одного з ударів на місце прибули рятувальники ДСНС. Вони гасили пожежу, розбирали завали та шукали постраждалих. Саме тоді росія завдала повторного удару по місцю проведення рятувальної операції.

Ворог свідомо атакував тих, хто рятував людські життя.

Ця тактика отримала назву «подвійний удар» (double tap) і дедалі частіше використовується росією проти українських міст. Її мета — не лише завдати більше жертв, а й посіяти страх серед тих, хто першими приходить на допомогу після трагедії.

Сьогодні характер російського терору змінюється та стає ще більш цинічним.
Це систематична кампанія залякування, спрямована на знищення української ідентичності, культури та віри у безпечне майбутнє.

Ми висловлюємо щирі співчуття родинам усіх загиблих та постраждалих.

І ми дякуємо кожному українському рятувальнику, медику, військовому та волонтеру, які щодня продовжують виконувати свій обов’язок навіть тоді, коли самі стають мішенню для ворога.

💙💛 Revived Soldiers Ukraine President Irina Vashchuk Discipio, Head of Ukraine Office RSU Tetiana Hrubeniuk Тетяна Руденька, and West Regional Manager Karina Mashtalir have been recognized among the nominees for the “Top 100 Women of Ukraine” award!

The award ceremony, organized by the media project Сила Впливу took place in Lviv and brought together women whose daily work is transforming the country, helping people, and making Ukraine stronger.

For the Revived Soldiers Ukraine team, this recognition is not only an acknowledgment of personal achievements but also a testament to the importance of the mission we have been carrying out for many years. Behind every award stand hundreds of saved lives, thousands of hours of medical and prosthetic treatment, rehabilitation, and support provided to Ukrainian service members who have paid a tremendous price for Ukraine’s freedom.

Every day, we work to ensure that severely wounded defenders have access to the highest-quality medical care, advanced prosthetic services, and comprehensive rehabilitation, as well as the opportunity to return to active lives, their families, and their dreams. That is why this recognition belongs not only to Irina, Tetiana, and Karina, but also to our entire team of physicians, prosthetists, rehabilitation specialists, volunteers, partners, and donors who help our heroes recover every single day.

Although Irina Vashchuk Discipio was unable to attend the ceremony in person, her many years of dedication to supporting and restoring the lives of Ukrainian defenders were rightfully recognized through this award.

In addition, during this visit, a collaborative partnership was established between Ukrainian and American surgeons to facilitate ongoing exchanges of expertise in surgery, treatment strategies, and rehabilitation for patients with severe traumatic injuries.

This training program held special significance because of the story of our hero, Volodymyr Shkul of the 156th Separate Mechanized Brigade. In October 2025, Volodymyr was evacuated from the Lviv Military Hospital to the United States as part of the largest and most complex medical evacuation mission carried out by Revived Soldiers Ukraine, which transported six severely wounded Ukrainian service members aboard a private Bombardier Global 6000 aircraft. We extend our sincere gratitude to Melanie Kelfer and Operation Mordechai for their support in organizing this flight and helping cover a portion of the associated costs.

For the past seven months, Volodymyr has been undergoing medical and prosthetic treatment and rehabilitation in the United States through Revived Soldiers Ukraine at UIC Hospital under the medical supervision of surgeon Dr. Yevhen Pavelko.

More than six months of treatment, extensive diagnostic evaluations, and rehabilitation at New Summit Rehabilitation and Healthcare produced remarkable results, allowing Volodymyr to gain 12 kilograms and prepare for the next stage of his recovery. On May 28, 2026, he successfully underwent a complex robotic colostomy reversal procedure. The operation was performed by one of the world’s leading experts in robotic surgery, Professor Pier Cristoforo Giulianotti.

The Ukrainian military surgeons were given the opportunity to attend the operation, observe Professor Giulianotti’s work firsthand, discuss surgical strategies, and gain invaluable practical experience. For Volodymyr, the presence of Ukrainian physicians during this critical moment also provided important moral support.

🩺🇺🇸 За підтримки Revived Soldiers Ukraine та Командування Медичних Сил ЗСУ головний хірург Збройних Сил України полковник медичної служби Костянтин Гуменюк та підполковник медичної служби Артем Кобірніченко успішно завершили 10-денний курс із роботизованої хірургії на базі UIC Hospital у Чикаго!

Завдяки UIC Hospital українські військові хірурги отримали можливість безкоштовно пройти курс із роботизованої хірургії на системах da Vinchi XI та da Vinchi 5, повна вартість якого становить $20,000. Revived Soldiers Ukraine забезпечили переліт, проживання, харчування лікарів під час навчання та покрили $12,000.

Навчання було присвячене проведенню оперативних втручань із використанням роботизованих систем da Vinchi XI та da Vinchi 5, воно включало інтенсивну практичну підготовку в одній із найбільших лабораторій США. Українські лікарі працювали під керівництвом хірурга UIC Hospital та Медичного директора RSU Dr Yevhen Pavelko, Chandra Hassan, а також американських колег. Протягом 10 днів вони проходили тренування на роботизованих системах da Vinchi XI та da Vinchi 5 з використанням кадавера та свинок. А також були присутні в операційних під час проведення оперативних втручань за допомоги робота.

‼️ Важливо, що вже цього року Intuitive Surgical за сприяння Revived Soldiers Ukraine передає до Київського військового шпиталю першу сертифіковану роботизовану систему da Vinci Xi вартістю понад $2,000 000. Наш фонд бере на себе щорічне сервісне обслуговування вартістю $150,000.

Водночас команда Revived Soldiers Ukraine вже розпочинає ремонтні роботи з облаштування операційної та стерилізаційної кімнати в Київському військовому шпиталі для встановлення роботизованої системи da Vinci Xi.

Поєднання сучасної роботизованої системи da Vinci Xi та підготовки українських військових хірургів у UIC Hospital дозволить впроваджувати найсучасніші методики лікування безпосередньо в Україні, виконувати надскладні оперативні втручання з меншою травматичністю для пацієнтів та значно покращити результати лікування важкопоранених військовослужбовців.

Крім того, під час візиту нашої делегації було започатковано співпрацю між українськими та американськими хірургами для подальшого обміну досвідом у сфері хірургії, лікування та реабілітації пацієнтів із тяжкими травмами.

Особливого значення цьому навчанню надала історія нашого героя Володимира Шкуля (156-та окрема механізована бригада). У жовтні 2025 року Володимир був евакуйований до США зі Львівського військового шпиталю в межах найбільшої та найскладнішої медичної евакуації, яку здійснила команда Revived Soldiers Ukraine, доставивши шістьох важкопоранених українських військових на борту приватного літака Bombardier Global 6000. Щиро дякуємо Melanie Kelfer та фонду Operation Mordechai за підтримку в організації цього перельоту та допомогу в покритті частини витрат.

Вже 7 місяців проходить лікування і реабілітацію за підтримки Revived Soldiers Ukraine в UIC Hospital під медичним супроводом хірурга Dr Yevhen Pavelko.

Понад півроку лікування, численних обстежень та реабілітації у New Summit Rehabilitation and Healthcare дали свій результат - Володимир набрав 12 кг. 28 травня 2026 року наш воїн успішно переніс складну роботизовану операцію із закриття колостоми. Операцію виконав один із провідних світових фахівців у галузі роботизованої хірургії — професор Pier Cristoforo Giulianotti.

Українські військові хірурги отримали можливість бути присутніми на цій операції, спостерігати за роботою професора, обговорювати особливості хірургічної тактики та здобувати безцінний практичний досвід. А для самого Володимира присутність українських лікарів поруч стала важливою моральною підтримкою у надзвичайно відповідальний момент.
