“Why and how do husbands initiate tough conversations about past damage, to repair and rebuild?”
Conversations with your wife or future wife are not game-plans out of a play book. They Ebb and Flow, based on where her thoughts and experiences take her. Women are created to reflect her environment, as a wife she is a mirror of the leadership in a home. When the leadership ‘glitches’ her brain sends a message to her nervous system that something is out of order. A good leader is the high priest in his home, as Jesus is HIS High Priest. When a wife appears to be struggling, her husband should recognize it quickly and help her process. This is obtained by looking her in the eyes, reading her expressions, asking questions from curiosity and care, not from anger or frustration. Men THINK to process, Women TALK to process (see Mark Gungor- “Tale of Two Brains”) Passive men who avoid, ignore, get defensive, or any of the other inappropriate relationship responses will fail at this task. Use resources to get the conversation started! Contact us for recommendations.

“How does m*sturbation affect a spouse? Does it affect a girlfriend/boyfriend differently?” Studies prove that ma********on releases bonding chemicals, re-wires the brain, circumvents normal pursuit of sexual expression, may lead to impotency, creates unhealthy muscle memory, builds habitual patterns, carves paths that are etched permanently, replaces sexual desire for your wife (or future wife) with SELF generated gratification, and replaces masculinity with passivity. Any sexual release outside of God’s design creates destruction and is sin. What you feed will thrive. Would it be ok for your wife to ma******te and then tell you she’s no longer “in the mood”? Any sexual expression that you are feeding will steal from your spouse or future spouse. In God’s design for marriage, both spouses synchronize routines, sleep schedules, and other systematic patterns. When one spouse is having sexual release outside of a healthy experience with the other, the marriage experiences tension and stress. Intimacy in relationship is not just the end-game, it is the day-to-day connections that create ‘one-flesh’ and end with sexual expression. This is spiritual warfare in a marriage. A healthy marriage provides for regulation and balancing which creates peace and unity.

“Do I (husband) always need to be strong?” Yes…strong in spirit. In your weakness HE is strong (2 Corinthians 12:9). Having done all, just STAND. (Ephesians 6:13) Stand up for His will, His justice, not yourself by playing victim. She NEEDS the strength from God through you.

“I want to pursue my wife, but sometimes she vents and I lose interest. How should I respond instead?” Remember, she is a HUMAN BEING. Your sister in Christ. God’s DAUGHTER. How would you want YOUR child or daughter to be treated? Put your phone out of reach, look at her eyes while she vents. What emotion do you see in her facial expression? Minister to her there! Don’t try to ‘fix”, “apologize”, “explain”, “diminish”, “disregard”, “blame shift”, “defend”, “gaslight”, or “avoid/run/ignore”. Try to feel the emotion you hear her express, and tell her you feel her pain and understand. With SINCERITY, use connection phrases like “I can see why that hurt you”, “That must have been terrifying”, “Wow, I never looked at it that way but that would have frustrated me too”. Use your WORDS and EMOTIONS to connect to her. God created emotions and Jesus used them to accentuate His life and teachings.

“How do I keep reaching out after disclosure when she is not responding?” Every time you reach out she files a mental note that you are pursuing. If you have neglected pursuit in the past, she needs to see a consistent pattern change before she will make herself vulnerable by responding.

My bride only remembers the negative I’ve done. How can I add positive memories?

Her behavior is ABSOLUTELY NORMAL. She IS the victim. She did not have a choice or control over your behavior and it HURT. She is dealing with more than just rebuilding trust based on what she can SEE. Chances are, whatever behavior hurt her was NOT SEEN on the surface WHILE she trusted you. She had no reason to distrust you before, but that blind trust is over. She has Biblical grounds for a ‘certificate of divorce’. Your behavior violated your covenant promise, and ‘divorced’ (disconnected, separated, divided) you in God’s eyes. She may replay memories of the lies and infidelity in her mind, struggling with anger and bitterness when these memories resurface. In those moments, she feels like the victim and wants to regain a sense of power by standing up for herself through anger or fighting back, so she never feels vulnerable or victimized again. These replays reignite her lack of trust—it's as if she's always waiting for the other shoe to drop, questioning whether what he's saying or doing is genuine. You must work through these feelings and reactions. The passage of time is not the healer. To start with CONSISTENT positive changes in behavior will help her process the pain and rebuild a sense of safety. If you are 1. seeking God, 2. purifying your behavior with the power of His Holy Spirit, 3. repenting to Jesus your High Priest, then you will experience growing (not immediate) victory over the power the enemy has in your marriage. The main obstruction Satan planted in your marriage is FEAR in a woman, whose #1 need is SECURITY. You were responsible for keeping her safe. Now she feels that this is her burden, that she must keep herself safe. Being consistent (not just a check list) shows her what is happening spiritually. It may take years to re-wire your wife. Everything is connected for a her. Once you have consistently reflected God in your day to day life, her memories will be reprogrammed to see the positive. Now she can only see the negative connections.

When should I disclose my past to my girlfriend?

07/27/2026

“When should I disclose sexual addiction in a dating relationship? Or a previous p**n problem?” If you still have a p**n “problem” you are not ready to date. Marriage does not fix p**n addiction. Overcome this sin before putting a woman’s heart at risk. Once you have overcome, then begin to court by building a spiritual friendship. The time to disclose would be when this friendship looks like it could progress. BEFORE the hand holding, BEFORE the ‘front’ hugs or arms around her, BEFORE the kissing. Every human was created with free will to make their own choices. When a relationship progresses from friendship to a possible covenant relationship, everything becomes a possible deal breaker, and both have the right to change direction. A marriage covenant bonds two people to each other in ALL areas and full disclosure will avoid great heartache later. Withholding truth from anyone that would deny this right is manipulation. Do not try to “protect” anyone by being their HOLY SPIRIT. We grow through our choices and experiences. Withholding truth is deception and will poison marriage. True intimacy only occurs when ‘Into me you see’, where nothing is lurking in the dark as a foothold of Satan.
