The Florida Nurses Association as a constituent of the American Nurses Association is the only nursing organization representing ALL of nursing regardless of specialty or practice area. We are a strong voice for the nurses of Florida fueled by the strength and commitment of the professional nurses who comprise our membership.

This year, for the first time, October 17 is being recognized as Nurse Honor Guard Day in Florida.

Nurse Honor Guards provide meaningful tributes to Nurses who spent their careers caring for others. When their work is done, fellow nurses come together to honor their legacy.

Through meaningful traditions, including the lighting of the Nightingale lamp and the offering of a white rose, volunteer Nurse Honor Guards pay a final tribute to nurses who dedicated their lives to the profession.

There are currently 22 Volunteer Nurse Honor Guard chapters in Florida who ensure that a nurse's lifetime of service is remembered and honored.

We’re still reflecting on the conversations, emotions and moments of connection that emerged at this year’s Clinical Excellence Conference.

Through the sharing of personal stories from nursing practice, our storytellers invited everyone in the room to reflect on their own experiences, which opened the door for meaningful conversations and reflection on what it truly means to be a nurse.

The stories reminded us of the impact that nurses make every day and that nursing extends far beyond clinical decisions, medications, procedures and documentation. Its impact is also found in moments of compassion, advocacy, and presence.

Thank you to every storyteller, panelist and attendee who helped create a space where the experiences of nurses could be shared, heard and valued.

We hope the conversations continue beyond the conference. Take time to reflect on the moments that have shaped your own nursing practice, share those stories with one another and remember that your experiences have the power to connect, inspire and remind us why the work of nursing matters. We hope to see you at next year's event!

This LPN Week, we’re proud to celebrate the Licensed Practical Nurses who bring skill, compassion, and dedication to patients and communities every day.

This year, FNA proudly opened membership to LPNs for the first time, expanding our association to more fully represent all nursing professionals. We’re proud to see LPN representation growing within FNA and strengthening the connections that unite us across nursing.
