Horses That Help, a local non-profit, utilizes rescued and rehabilitated horses to impact the lives of special needs and at-risk kids. Horses That Help is a 501(c)3 public charity and donations are tax deductible. There is something special about the connection between a horse and a child that brings about physical, spiritual, and emotional healing through horseback riding, training, and bonding.

Horses That Help's program is completely free so that money never stands in the way of a parent's ability to bring their child. We thank you for your support so we can expand the program into a full-time ministry that can have an even greater impact!

Busy day for MJ who saw the farrier and got a big scrubby bath from volunteer Tressen. Even Pepper got in on the fun with a bath and shave to beat this heat!

Welcome back MJ! Adopted since 2021, her owner had a life change bringing MJ back to us. What a sweetheart, she gives kisses and is such a cuddle bug! An HTH alumni is forever safe and we’re happy to get to know her again ❤️. Fun fact: MJ is the most photogenic horse we’ve ever had and her face is on the Rescue The Rescues album cover!

🇺🇸Wishing everyone a Happy Independence Day!🇺🇸 If you’re like me you’ll be home with the critters. This year most of our herd will be outside with extra hay and they’ll be fine. Some will be stalled and medicated. Same with dogs… some crated and medicated with the TV on loud and some will be outside curiously watching the fireworks with us. We have a new to us giant mastiff and last night when thunder boomed he jumped at the window furiously barking 😂 so I have no idea how he’ll do 😅! It’s gonna be a wild night but we’re excited for our country and everyone celebrating. And revelers… please be kind and wrap it up by midnight and please please don’t shoot off random mortars days from now as those we can’t prepare for and are most dangerous. Happy 4th of July! ‘Merica! 🇺🇸❤️

🚖Florida horse friends: anyone coming up to Ocala from Loxahatchee/Acreage area that can add a sweet mare at a fill rate? She’s an adopted horse coming back to the rescue due to life changes. (No hurry, but ideally in the next week or two)

💖When we grow up we want to be like Retirement Home for Horses Inc!💖 Beau came to us after we rescued him and Smarty from an awful situation where they were trapped in stalls with feet of manure, neglected by the caretaker hired while their owner was in hospice. After going through two foster homes, we desperately wanted to find them a soft forever landing and were thrilled when RHH answered our email for help! We love seeing updates and know he’s happily living out his end of life, in a massive pasture with friends and loving people! Thank you for being a blessing to the rescue community RHH!
*We have 4 horses total with them… Beau, Smarty, Luca, and Friday! Did you know you can visit their beautiful farm on Saturdays? Just bring carrots! 🥕

After a night filled with tears for people and horses I’ve never met, I’m just reaching out asking for prayer. These angels spent weeks of sleepless nights saving foals they were asked to help only to have both pass suddenly within 24 hours. Poki was improving and “out of the woods” and Miracle was a happy, bouncy foal who already beat the odds. I read the updates with shock and felt such a kick in the gut I wanted to throw up, I can’t even imagine what the people of Rocking R Ranch and Rescue, Inc. are experiencing. They fought fiercely, they loved fiercely, they did everything right and now their hearts are broken 💔. Rescue is so fricken hard and I have nothing but respect and admiration for the warriors on the frontline. We’ve dealt with our share of loss here too and it just takes the breath out of your body. The exhaustion both physically and mentally is incomprehensible. Praying for the young people at the rescue. I know my own daughters were hit hard by loss and it definitely led to compassion fatigue. There’s just so much an empathic heart can take and I’m asking for fervent prayer for Jen, Joy, Cam, and the team. Wrap them in a thick cloud of love please as they mourn Miracle, Poki, and Rocky ❤️ Father God, please guard their hearts and fill them with a supernatural peace that defies understanding.

Remember sweet Gideon? He was with us for several years before being adopted back in 2018 and came back in 2024 when his family had a life change. Gideon always had a big space in our hearts and we would have kept him but a fabulous family that we knew fell in love with him and happily dealt with his many quirks. They just moved to 100 acres in TN and Gideon is having the time of his life exploring and living in horsey heaven! He LOVES his family and funny story, there was a small period of time where they were unsure if they could keep him so with our approval they introduced him to friends who considered adopting him. Gideon realized that ride was a “test ride” and he LAUNCHED the potential adopter which was COMPLETELY out of character for him! 🫣 He didn’t want to leave his family and he made it very clear 😅. Well it worked! He stayed and now he’s living his best life with the people he loves in green pastures that run forever! Godspeed Gideon! We’re so happy for you!!! ❤️🐎
