Learn more about Gentle Carousel’s Reading with Horses on The Horse Talk Show a partner with EQUUS Television . They are also on WCJB TV20 News.

The next weekly reading program will be tomorrow (June 18) at 10:00 AM at Midtown Station Ocala. It is free to the public and every child can select a free new book each time they attend.

Therapy horse Circus will be the special guest this week at Gentle Carousel's Reading with Horses summer literacy program. Each week features a book by different authors and publishers and the ACTUAL equine character from that book attends to bring the story to life.

The reading programs are free to the public including summer schools and camps. Children will be able to select a free new book each week to build their own library at home.

Gentle Carousel's Reading with Horses will start at 10:00 AM on June 18th at Midtown Station overlooking Tuscawilla Park. Be early!

Therapy horse Sparkle at his recent visit to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of North Central Florida, a home away from home for families with children receiving hospital care. Sparkle has been bringing love to this location for 20 years.

Gentle Carousel's Reading With Horses annual summer literacy program was packed to capacity again this week by horse and book lovers at Midtown Station Ocala .

Reading With Horses would not be possible without the help of amazing volunteers and this week’s sponsors Seminole Feed and Ian Robb /BEMER at the Vendor Village of the World Equestrian Center. Our summer sponsor is Friends of Horse Farms Forever.

Every child had the opportunity to select a new book to take home, have a snack and cool off with an ice pop. Thank you Ian Robb for the snacks and ice pops! The extra ice pops were shared with children in hospital care later in the day when therapy horse Sparkle visited them.

Sparkle attended this week's reading program and he went home with a bag of his favorite food from Seminole Feed®. They produce a million bags of non-medicated feed a year at a mill in downtown Ocala that the children could see from our reading location.

Today we remember the 49 people who died and the 58 people wounded in the mass shooting at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida ten years ago.

Our therapy horses were asked by Orange County to work with families, first responders and the Medical Examiner's Office immediately after this tragedy and to attend the public memorial.

Happy Birthday Vigil.

Our maremma sheepdog Vigil has always wanted to be up as high as possible on our farm since the day he arrived almost a decade ago.

Without Vigil and the other Guardian Angels, our livestock guardian dogs, the therapy horses would be in danger everyday. The Guardian Angels have kept the therapy horses safe through the years from packs of coyotes, stray dogs, a few trespassing humans and even a Florida panther. Vigil is a true loyal hero.

Magic Memory at the Shriners Hospital.

Little Hero Horse Magic has been bringing her love to children in hospital care across the United States for almost two decades. This was a visit to a Shriners Hospital for Children in North Carolina.

Magic was in town because her documentary Hero Horse was in the Tryon International Film Festival, but she was able to visit a hospital and to meet with children at a local Ronald McDonald House between film events.

This is a special year for Magic. We will be celebrating her 20th birthday with Gentle Carousel's Black & White Gala, An Evening of Music and Magic on October 10th.

The charity has never charged for a therapy horse visit in almost 30 years so the gala and concert will help make this special work possible.
