Happy National Hotel Employee Day!

Every great hotel stay is shaped by the people behind the scenes: housekeepers, front desk teams, engineers, security officers, food service staff, managers, and the teams who carefully handle lost and found.

Our latest blog celebrates the hospitality professionals whose small acts of service build guest trust every day. It also highlights an often-overlooked responsibility: what happens when unclaimed electronics like cell phones, tablets, laptops, and smartwatches, remain in lost and found.

Through 911 Cell Phone Bank, hotels can securely donate unclaimed devices at no cost. Devices are processed with third-party verified data erasure aligned with DoD NIST 800-88 Rev. 1 guidelines, and usable devices are used to assist survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking.

This testimonial from Kersten Bergstrom, Victim Services Senior Coordinator with Yakima Police Department, shows the very real role safe communication can play after abuse.

A cell phone that was donated to 911 Cell Phone Bank helped replace a device that had been taken from a victim. This created a safer communication path so the person accused of causing harm could no longer contact her directly or through others.

For victim service professionals, these devices are more than equipment. They are practical tools that help restore independence, reconnect survivors to trusted support, and create room for someone to begin moving forward.

This is an opportunity to securely dispose of unused (working or broken) cell phones, tablets, laptops, smartwatches, gaming devices, and other personal electronics. These items assist survivors of human trafficking and domestic violence. Donations are tax-deductible.

911 Cell Phone Bank was proud to attend and speak at the IAVM VenueConnect 2026, held at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis.

We were especially honored that Javits Center invited us to attend and participate as a guest speaker. James Mosieur, Founder & Director of 911 Cell Phone Bank, joined the session “Waste Not: How to Manage Waste Diversion in a Major Venue.”

The discussion centered on sustainability, waste diversion, and the value of the 911CPB program: helping organizations securely process unused, retired, and unclaimed (lost & found) electronics, responsibly reuse or recycle devices, and support safe connection for survivors of human trafficking and domestic violence through law enforcement and victim service agency partners.

As members of the International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM), we value opportunities to connect with professionals across all public assembly venues—including arenas, stadiums, convention and performing arts centers, and multi-purpose complexes—around sustainability, safety planning, and responsible resource management.

Thank you to Javits Center for the invitation and for the opportunity to collaborate on a meaningful conversation about how responsible device handling can create impact for venues, communities, and the environment.

On National Nonprofit Day, we recognize the organizations and partnerships that respond to unmet needs and strengthen communities.

Nonprofits are often powered by volunteers, donations, partnerships, and the belief that positive change is possible. At 911 Cell Phone Bank, that work includes giving unused, unclaimed (lost & found and property & evidence), and retired electronics a second purpose.

Through partnerships with law enforcement and victim service agencies nationwide, donated devices are securely wiped and repurposed to support victims of domestic violence, human trafficking, and other vulnerable individuals who may need a safe way to call for help or rebuild connection.

We're NOT kidding. Every piece we collect can be exchanged for cellphones for our clients through the 911 Cell Phone Bank program.

We are accepting:

- laptops

- portable gaming devices
- portable mp3, CD, and DVD players
- digital cameras
- memory cards and external hard drives
- chargers
- rechargeable batters
- headsets, headphones, earbuds

Every item donated can provide a cell phone for a client fleeing domestic violence or human trafficking.

For some, a phone can be a lifeline in their darkest hours.
