🚨 ATTENTION GARRY OAK TREE LOVERS — URGENT ACTION REQUESTED BY MARCH 20TH 🚨 The City just launched an Urban Forest survey, and the results could directly impact the future of Garry oak protections in our town if they are repealed. We need every person who cares about these incredible trees to take 10 minutes and make their voice heard before the survey closes on March 20th.

👉 Take the survey NOW: www.surveymonkey.com/r/OHPublicForestrySurvey

📢 Pay special attention to Question 18, which asks whether you support the existing Garry Oak Tree Protection Code. You know where we stand: “Yes, they need all the protection they can get.”

Oak Harbor is NAMED after these trees. Let’s make sure the City hears loud and clear that we want to keep protecting them.

Please share this post. Tag a friend. Tell your neighbor. The survey closes March 20th — every single response matters.

These are moments from our last planting on February 21st!! We always appreciate everyone who comes out to help plant seedlings. The dedication of Oak Harbor Garry Oak Society members throughout the years is incredible.

We welcome all who are interested in getting involved with your community and making a difference.

These trees will be big and beautiful in years to come, making this hard work worth it!

Happy Friday Everyone!

We have some exciting volunteer opportunities coming up and hope to see new faces there.

February 21st- A busy day!
We will meet at the Oak Harbor Christian School in the west parking lot at 9:00 a.m. where we will plant three seedlings.
Then, North Whidbey Middle School where we will plant two or three more seedlings.
Next we will head across the field behind the Autumn Leaves art work where we will install cages around three standing trees.
Finally, we will go to the high school and plant two seedlings there.

*Make sure to come prepared with a snack, we will need posthole diggers, sledge hammers and pick axes for removing the sod.*

February 28th – Not so busy. We will plant three seedlings on Coupeville School District property just off the highway at the intersection of South Ebey Road. This will be behind the power transformer station. Again, we will need the same supplies.

*Please reach out to us about participating*

Thank you in advance for your help.

Let’s help save 36 Garry Oaks in Tacoma by 5pm on January 29th !🌳

Please help spread the word and support the Garry Oak Coalition’s effort to protect 36 historic Garry Oak trees in Tacoma that are at risk of being cut down and replaced with a private self-storage facility.

These trees are ancient, some up to 630 years old and once destroyed, they cannot be replaced. Garry Oaks play a vital role in supporting wildlife habitat, protecting water quality, strengthening climate resilience, and enhancing community well-being.

Protecting these trees means protecting Tacoma’s natural heritage for generations to come.
