We watched another person become housed and move into her own apartment after working incredibly hard to get there. Watching the different supports gush over her was just as rewarding as watching her talk about her new place! This week, she stopped back to visit us! not because she needed something, but because she wanted to give something. She brought a gift for others who are still on their own journey.

Sometimes the biggest part of someone’s story gets overlooked. It’s not just finding housing, it’s the compassion, empathy, and understanding that can grow through life’s hardest moments. When you’ve been there, you understand just how much a little kindness, encouragement, or someone believing in you can mean.

Hard times don’t define us, but they often shape how we show up for others. And when people are surrounded by support, those hard times become just a little gentler around the edges.

We are so proud of her and everything she has accomplished. We wish her nothing but good things in this next chapter and can’t wait to hear about all the places life takes her bc ultimately it all leads back to home.

Thank you for reminding us that hope has a way of coming full circle. 💙

💙 Kindness is contagious. 💙

Today we had the pleasure of meeting Destinie Smith, a performer in TTri-Town Theatre Inc.s production of Come From Away.

Destinie shared with us that “Come From Away” tells the incredible true story of the communities that came together to welcome and support thousands of passengers whose flights were unexpectedly diverted on September 11, 2001. Inspired by the compassion shown during those difficult days, passenger Kevin Tuerff went on to create the Pay It Forward 9/11 movement, including 11 Days of Kindness, encouraging people everywhere to turn gratitude into action.

Destinie and several members of her theater group did exactly that. They donated food to the W.R.A.P. Center’s daytime food pantry, continuing the spirit of kindness that inspired the story in the first place.

We are so grateful that the message of “Come From Away” didn’t stay on the stage. It found its way into our community here in Chenango County.

If you’d like to experience this incredible story for yourself, “Come From Away” will be performed at Sidney High School during the September 11 weekend, with performances at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Thank you, Destinie, and everyone who contributed, for reminding us that compassion has a ripple effect. One act of kindness inspires another, and together those moments can change a community. 💙

This week has been one we’ll remember. So many beautiful outcomes this week and it’s only Tuesday! 💙

Today, we’re celebrating another individual moving into permanent housing.

Moments like these remind us why this work matters. When people are supported through some of the hardest chapters of their lives—with encouragement, consistency, and a community that refuses to give up on them…Hope has room to grow.

We’re incredibly proud of this person and everything they’ve done to get here. Housing isn’t the end of the journey, but it’s a powerful new beginning.

Tonight, we hope they enjoy something so many of us take for granted: the comfort of closing the door, taking a deep breath, and getting a good night’s rest in a place to call home.

Not everyone wants their picture shared, and we always respect that.

Today, another individual moved into permanent housing, and we couldn’t be happier for them.

One of the biggest misconceptions about homelessness is that it only happens to certain kinds of people. The truth is, we meet people from every walk of life. Job loss, illness, trauma, a relationship ending, rising costs, the loss of a support system… life can change faster than most of us realize.

Today isn’t just about getting keys. It’s about getting a chance to exhale. A chance to sleep without wondering where you’ll be tomorrow. A chance to begin believing that maybe, just maybe, good things can happen to you too.

We’re incredibly proud of this person and grateful to everyone who helped make this moment possible. Here’s to new beginnings, a place to call home, and all the hope that comes with it. ❤️

WOW.

How incredible is Chenango County and the hearts of our local businesses and our community members?! We are blown away!

That’s what showed up at the WRAP Center thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor and Local Line Bargain Bins & Discount Warehouse in Sherburne. 💙

We can’t even begin to express our gratitude.

People often ask what we need the most, and the answer surprises them: clean socks and undergarments.

It may not seem exciting, but for someone experiencing homelessness, these are some of the most important items we can provide. The reality is that people don’t always have the opportunity to go home, take a shower, do laundry, or simply rest. They spend their days walking, standing, and trying to survive.

We see painful foot conditions every day, from blisters and fungal infections to trench foot…many of which can be prevented with something as simple as a clean, dry pair of socks.

A fresh pair of socks isn’t just a pair of socks. It’s comfort. It’s dignity and it is prevention. It’s someone knowing that another person cared enough to think about them.

To our anonymous donor and the incredible team at Local Lines Bargain Bins and Discount Warehouse in Sherburne, thank you for believing in our mission and in the people we serve. Donations like this allow us to meet immediate needs while reminding our guests that their community hasn’t forgotten them.

🎉 Another reason to celebrate! 🎉

Today we have the privilege of celebrating another individual who is moving into permanent housing.

From day one, he set his sights on building a different future. He found employment, stayed committed to his goals, and never stopped working toward finding a place to call home. While community support helped open doors along the way, it was his determination, resilience, and hard work that got him here.

Moments like these remind us that housing is more than just a roof over someone’s head… it’s the beginning of a new chapter filled with possibility.

We couldn’t be prouder of you, and we can’t wait to see what comes next. Congratulations on this incredible milestone! ❤️🏠

Today, we celebrated two more individuals moving into permanent housing, and our hearts are so full.

For some people, the journey to housing is short. For others, it takes years. For these two, it took about 2 years of showing up, building trust, gaining employment, accepting support, overcoming barriers, and simply refusing to quit.

There were a lot of people and agencies who walked alongside them during that time, and we’re grateful to have been one small part of that journey. But today isn’t about the services—it’s about two people who kept choosing to move forward, even when it was hard.

This work has taught us that everyone’s timeline looks different. Progress isn’t always fast, and it rarely happens in a straight line. But when people are surrounded by support, treated with dignity, and given the space to keep trying, incredible things can happen.

Today they have a Home💙 We couldn’t be more proud of them.
