Powerful Pitching Performance From Slater Carries Norwich Junior Varsity Tornado Past Milford/Lauren's JV

Brianna Slater was dominant in the circle, as the hurler rang up 18 strikeouts in Norwich Junior Varsity Tornado's 9-4 victory over Milford/Lauren's JV on Wednesday. Brianna Slater gave up four hits and four runs over seven innings while walking three.
Norwich Junior Varsity Tornado got on the board in the top of the third inning after Elise Pepe drew a walk, scoring one run, and Vanessa Chetronie singled, scoring two runs.
Katara Mallette took the loss for Milford/Lauren's JV. The starter went seven innings, allowing nine runs (six earned) on six hits, striking out 10 and walking seven.
Vanessa Chetronie drove the middle of the lineup, leading Norwich Junior Varsity Tornado with two runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Norwich Junior Varsity Tornado's Haley Wright, the number seven hitter, led Norwich Junior Varsity Tornado with two hits in four at bats. Bella Johnson led Norwich Junior Varsity Tornado with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting seven walks for the game.
Ava Hernandez and Katara Mallette each drove in one run for Milford/Lauren's JV. Katara Mallette led Milford/Lauren's JV with two hits in three at bats.
Norwich Junior Varsity Tornado will travel to Windsor JV for their next game on Friday.
