This Memorial Day, we honor and remember the lives sacrificed in service to our country.

At Open Doors, we are reminded that service takes many forms. Each day, we strive to carry forward that spirit by showing up for our community, offering support, dignity, and hope to those facing difficult times.

In observance of Memorial Day, Smilow Life Center will be closed on May 25th, but our shelter and meal services will be working normally.

We are incredibly grateful to the Women's League of Westport for their generous $10,000 grant in support of Open Doors.

Beyond this meaningful contribution, we were honored to be invited to speak at their meeting last week and share more about the work we do to support individuals and families experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity in our community.

Partnerships like this are powerful reminders that real change happens when communities come together with compassion, generosity, and a shared commitment to helping others.

Last weekend, Open Doors’ The Social program was proud to participate in the 5th Annual NorWALK for Mental Health with The Norwalk Partnership💚

It was an incredible opportunity to support mental health awareness, connect with the community, and share more about the programs and services we offer at Open Doors.

The Social program is about so much more than activities—it’s about connection, community, purpose, and creating spaces where individuals feel supported and valued. Mental health plays a huge role in overall well-being, and programs like The Social help reduce isolation while encouraging personal growth, confidence, and meaningful relationships.

We are grateful to have been part of such an inspiring event dedicated to wellness, awareness, and community support.
