Norwalk Mayor Harry Rilling announced today that effective at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, August 13, the city of Norwalk will require indoor face coverings for all people, regardless of their vaccination status. The Mayor’s executive order affects all establishments in Norwalk, such as bars, gyms, restaurants, movie theaters, hardware stores, and supermarkets where physical distancing cannot be maintained.

This order will be enforced by the Norwalk Police Department and Norwalk Health Department.

As we continue to practice physical distancing, some may feel socially disconnected. Starting tonight & every day moving forward, Mayor Rilling encourages everyone to shine a light or ring a bell from 7-7:02pm.

“Times are tough, no doubt about it, but small acts, like shining a light or ringing a bell, could really make a difference for our neighbors, first responders, and essential employees,” Mayor Rilling said. “Whether it’s a church bell or a flashlight from the front porch, hearing the chimes and seeing the lights will hopefully create a sense of solidarity across the community. I encourage all of us to mark 7 p.m. on our calendars every day.”
