This week, we’re highlighting the community at the heart of Heat Healthy Bridgeport: the City of Bridgeport itself!

From neighborhood events and local organizations to community cleanups, farmers' markets, and one-on-one conversations with residents, Bridgeport gives us so many opportunities to connect with the people who call the city home.

Through Heat Healthy Bridgeport, we’re proud to help residents learn more about resources available through Energize Connecticut℠ and our Heat Healthy contractor, New England Smart, including Home Energy Solutions℠–Income Eligible and heat pump technologies that can help make homes healthier, more comfortable, and more energy-efficient.

🤝 Continued Partnership: Stratford Library Association - Stratford, CT

This week, our Heat Healthy Stratford Campaign is celebrating our continued partnership with Stratford Library and recognizing all the work they do to support, educate, and connect the community!

We’re excited to join the library for upcoming tabling sessions on September 17 and October 22 from 12 PM to 6 PM, where we’ll connect with residents and share resources for creating healthier, more comfortable, and more energy-efficient homes.
We’re also looking forward to seeing the library’s renovations and continuing to work together with partners like New England

Smart Energy and programs like Energize Connecticut℠ to support cleaner air and healthier homes throughout the community.

🌱 Meet This Week’s Heat Healthy Hero: Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo!

This week, Heat Healthy Bridgeport recognizes Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo for its commitment to conservation, environmental education, and creating a more sustainable future for the Bridgeport community and beyond!

The Zoo takes a broad approach to conservation, connecting the protection of wildlife and biodiversity with sustainable practices, education, and opportunities for the community to get involved. Through its programs and events, visitors are encouraged to learn about the natural world and discover ways their own actions can make a difference.

That commitment was on display at the Zoo’s 2026 Party for the Planet held this past April, which brought conservation and sustainability education together with hands-on activities, a community cleanup, and the Energize Connecticut℠ Energy in Action mobile exhibit where visitors learned about energy efficiency and renewable energy.

Connecticut Beardsley Zoo’s mission complements the work of Energize Connecticut ℠ and New England Smart Energy, helping people see how everyday choices, including the way we use energy at home, can contribute to healthier homes and a more sustainable Connecticut.

🎒 Thank You, Bridgeport Rescue Mission!

A big thank you to the Bridgeport Rescue Mission for hosting the Back-to-School Block Party at Went Field on August 8!
Live Green Connecticut, United Illuminating, and Southern Connecticut Gas were right next to each other, giving us a great opportunity to talk with families, answer questions, and share information about resources to help make homes more comfortable and energy-efficient through Heat Healthy Bridgeport.

It was wonderful talking with so many people and seeing families come together for a fun day preparing for the new school year. While kids geared up to head back to the classroom, parents had the opportunity to discover ways to make their homes healthier and more comfortable.

🌱 Meet This Week’s Heat Healthy Hero: Downtown Farmer’s Market - InfoBridgeport!

This week, we’re celebrating the Downtown Farmer’s Market as our Heat Healthy Hero for creating a welcoming space where Bridgeport residents can shop local, discover community resources, and connect with organizations working throughout the city.

The market takes place every Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. through October 29, bringing together local vendors and community partners right in the heart of Bridgeport.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to be part of this community gathering. For all the support the Downtown Farmer’s Market has shown Heat Healthy Bridgeport as we connect residents with valuable resources available through Energize Connecticut℠, including Home Energy Solutions℠– Income Eligible and heat pump technologies that can help make homes healthier, more comfortable, and more energy efficient.

Strong communities are built through strong partnerships, and we’re thrilled to continue working with Build Bridgeport From Within and founder and executive director Al Ramirez!

Al and his team have been wonderful supporters of our efforts to connect Bridgeport residents with resources that can help create healthier, more comfortable, and more energy-efficient homes, like incentives offered through Energize Connecticut.

We’re especially excited to join Build Bridgeport from Within as they lead The Hollow Community Cleanup on Saturday, August 29. It’s another great opportunity to come together, connect with neighbors, and invest in the community we all share.
