Food insecurity and diaper shortages are very real struggles for families right here in Montgomery County, PA. No family should have to choose between putting food on the table and purchasing basic necessities.

The Barista Jake Kindness Crew is collecting MUCH-NEEDED items specifically requested by Martha's Choice Marketplace to help our neighbors in need.

MOST NEEDED ITEMS:
Fresh or Frozen Turkeys (Collecting from November 1–12)
Peanut Butter (All Month)
Adult Nutriton Drinks (Ensure, Boost, etc.)(All Month)
Adult Diapers (All Month)
Baby Diapers (sizes 2-4) (All Month)

🎃 You know what really GRINDS MY GEARS, FLABBERS MY GHASTS, and IRKS MY BIGERKS?! 💀

Being a boots-on-the-ground Executive Director of a small nonprofit, begging, borrowing, and practically performing séances to get funding!

We've proven outcomes, changed lives, and given our hearts, souls, and probably a few vital organs to our community.

Meanwhile, I watch other organizations seemingly do more posing than producing, yet somehow the funding flows like Halloween candy!

MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!

Is that petty? Maybe. Am I a little salty? Absolutely. But after 6.5 YEARS and ONE grant, Ma is TIRED. 😂

So instead of crying into my cauldron, I'm spending another spooky evening rewriting grant proposals, booking mobile coffee events to keep the lights on, and refreshing my email every five minutes to see if a sponsor has magically appeared.

At this point, the scariest thing about Halloween isn't the ghosts, goblins, or witches.

It's the nonprofit bank account and the sound of crickets from potential funders.

Thank you to everyone that attended our very first “Tales from the dark side” spooky season event featuring Karla’s Kreepy Kuriosities Rockbeautybykarla, horror inspired art by Allan Bray and several readings from the newest short story book by Matt Magarvy

“Boorista Jake” made a bunch of seasonal drinks for the attendees and we all kicked off Halloween week in a fun way!

Adam’s Way is moving forward.

Earlier this year, we purchased the property that will become Adam’s Way. This summer, we received the zoning relief needed to continue advancing our vision.

Now comes the next chapter: working through land development, engineering and design as we move closer to making Adam’s Way a reality.

41 homes. People with and without disabilities living as neighbors. Right here in Doylestown.

There is still plenty of work ahead but this project is no longer just an idea. 💜

Some moments as a mom leave you speechless. Today was one of them. 💙

Today, Jake returned to Whitehall Elementary, not as the little boy who once sat in an autistic support classroom but as the man standing in front of one, sharing his journey and showing students what’s possible.

And Whitehall rolled out the red carpet for him!

Jake shared his story, taught the students how to make the BEST flavored lemonade in the world and proudly presented certificates of completion. The teachers even created a social story for his visit!

But for me, this was so much more.

I remember the worries, the hard days, and wondering what Jake’s future would look like. Today, I watched him walk back through those same doors, not as the child who needed encouragement, but as the man giving it.

THAT is full circle. And THAT is what it’s all about.

On the days when the fight for inclusion feels exhausting and I question whether we’re making a difference, I’ll remember today.

If I ever needed a sign to keep pushing forward, today was it.

Jake, my heart could burst with pride. And Whitehall, thank you for giving us a moment I’ll never forget.
