The Arc Alliance relies on government funding, donations, and grants to empower people with intellectual/developmental disabilities and Autism. We are grateful for the support of our legislators like PA State Rep. Donna Scheuren who helped us secure a $50,000 grant from the Commonwealth for program equipment.

Thank you Representative Schuren for supporting our mission.

We love seeing our friend Heather Michaelson shine!✨💖
From sharing her love of art and teaching to being an Empowerment Award Winner, Heather continues to inspire those around her.

Recently featured in the Chestnut Hill Local, Heather is preparing to walk the runway at the Be Beautiful Be Yourself Fashion Show in Denver on November 7!

Heather received our Edward Sickles III Advocacy Award earlier this year in recognition of her dedication to self-advocacy and uplifting others in the disability community.

We’re so proud of Heather and all she continues to accomplish. Keep shining, Heather! 🧡

Empowered by Employment 💪🧡

With the right support and opportunities, Ean has built his confidence, independence, and a career he loves!

With support from The Arc Alliance and his Support Coordinator, Ashley, Ean found an ASL-fluent Job Coach who helped him develop his skills and pursue meaningful employment. Today, he proudly holds THREE part-time jobs!

👏 At Soltane Café and So Much to Give Inclusive Café, Ean works as a dishwasher. He also works at Camphill Soltane, helping with landscaping, plants, and greenhouse tasks.

When asked about his work, Ean shared, “I love where I work.”

This National Disability Employment Awareness Month, we’re celebrating Ean and the importance of inclusive workplaces, accessible communication, and individualized support that empowers people with disabilities to thrive.

As Ean puts it, “I appreciate The Arc Alliance and all they do for me to be independent and seen.” 🧡

🧡 Down Syndrome Awareness Month 🧡

Did you know? Some common physical traits associated with Down syndrome include low muscle tone, small stature, an upward slant to the eyes, and a single deep crease across the palm.

However, every person with Down syndrome is unique! These characteristics can vary from person to person, and not everyone will have all of them.
