Word is spreading about the Rob Trotter Speaker Series, and people are coming from far and wide to hear Robbie Trotter tell The History of Sooner Toastmasters.
(Attendance remains statistically normal.)

Last week’s presentation was so well received that the audience demanded an encore—and Rob delivered TWO speeches in one night.
(Rob stopped halfway through to avoid going over time. Then another speaker didn’t show up, so they gave Rob the empty slot. He still almost went over.)

Following this triumph, club officials practically begged Rob to return next week.
(Someone dropped out. They asked Rob if he wanted the spot. He said, “Sure.”)

And so, what was originally a four-speech series continues its completely predictable loss of control:

It was Contest time at Sooner Toastmasters last Thursday Sept 17th. We had four great speakers with a wide variety of topics. Honorable Mention, Donna Elam with a twist on her topic that only Donna can manage. Third place Jack Jordan with a personal and deeply felt speech. Second place Robbie Trotter about his adventures at his new job. The winner of the evening was Bhagya DeWage. Watch out Toastmasters, Bhagya has only been a member for a few months and she has one Very Proud Mentor!! To top the evening off we celebrated receiving our Smedley Award in ribbon form. Come join in the fun Thursday evenings 7 to 8:30 pm McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church

The Robbie Trotter Speaker Series continues! 🎤

Speech #1 was a huge success! (We’re choosing to overlook the fact that I went over time.)

I planned to cover the entire history of Sooner Toastmasters in one speech. Turns out 72 years of Sooner Toastmasters cannot be contained in seven minutes. Who knew?

Part 1 took us from 1954 to 2012 (when Rob arrived) then 2012–2015, revisiting some of the Toastmasters who helped shape our club, memorable contest wins and conference moments, plus a couple of our great traditions—including our epic Halloween meetings and Oscar meetings.

And I barely scratched the surface.

So naturally, one speech has become four.

This Thursday, September 24, Part 2 continues the story with 2015–2019 and more of the people, milestones, successes, traditions, and memories that made Sooner Toastmasters what it is.

Same club. More history. Still probably going over. 😏
