Mission & History:

The Norman Firehouse Art Center enriches our community by offering creative visual arts education, experiences and exhibits. At the Firehouse, we believe that art is for everyone, and work to make arts education available to all individuals, regardless of age, culture, ability, or socioeconomic status. Today, we house professional visual arts studios and classrooms that provide children, teen, and adult education and enrichment programs, as well as a gallery and gift shop which are free to the public. We promote visual arts awareness and accessibility, provide art exhibitions, and offer opportunities that support local artists. The Firehouse is partially funded by the City of Norman, Allied Arts OKC, Oklahoma Arts Council, and The Norman Arts Council, as well as corporate sponsorships, memberships, and donations.

Painting Your Portrait Self with , Monday 6:00-8:00pm
Self-portraits can be daunting. Challenge your fiercest critic, own your personal representation, and paint with abandon. From sketch to completion, every choice can be correct if you decide it is. Let's make our faces known.

Dinnerware for Two with , Monday 6:00-9:00pm
Join the Firehouse Art Center for a four-week intensive workshop to create a complete dinner set for two. Using our high-fire clay body, use a mix of hand-building and wheel techniques to create a custom dinner set for two. Including, two plates, two cups/mugs, two bowls, and two serving bowls.

Fused Glass Scapes with Monday 6:00-8:00 pm
Create a glass scape of your choice; let your imagination run wild. You will have the freedom to choose a design and color scheme. Design a glass scape inspired by flowers, nature, animals, the holiday season, or sports; it is completely up to you. This is hands-on experience, and no previous kiln-fused glass experience is necessary. Learn to score, break, and shape glass.

All ages and all drawing skill levels are welcome! Bring your sketchbook, pick up a pencil, and spend the morning sketching animals at the Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden. No matter your experience level, there’s room to create and learn!

This beautiful piece was created as a collaborative work during our SPARK! Gala, with everyone who attended getting the chance to be part of it. The finished piece will be displayed at Firehouse Art Center as a tribute to the three potters who founded the Firehouse and helped shape it into the creative community it is today.

Calling all local artists! 🎨🎄

The Firehouse Art Center’s Holiday Gift Gallery is back, and we want your work to be part of it!

We’re looking for original, handmade artwork in a variety of mediums, including ceramics, painting, photography, prints, jewelry, wood, glass, mixed media, seasonal décor, and more. We’re looking for unique pieces at a range of price points that shoppers will love gifting or taking home for themselves.

Last year, more than 1,000 Norman shoppers visited the Holiday Gift Gallery! Come be part of this favorite holiday tradition and share your work with the community.

Norman Firehouse Art Center is teaming up with Norman Parks and Recreation for Movie in the Park on Friday, October 2, featuring Hocus Pocus!

Come hang out with us before and during the movie to make your very own witch hat! Get creative, add your own spooky touches, and show it off while you watch the movie under the stars!
