Center for Children & Families (CCFI)

Center for Children & Families (CCFI) Healing Children. Empowering Youth. Strengthening Families. CCFI is a United Way of Norman partner.

At the Center for Children and Families (CCFI), we offer strength-based programs and services to aide and educate families coping with abuse, neglect, divorce, separation, teenage pregnancy, a lack of quality out-of-school care, and/or other adverse experiences. Since 1969, CCFI has partnered with schools, neighborhoods, donors, public agencies, and families to provide education, prevention, and treatment services for families because we believe that every boy and girl deserves to grow up safe, nurtured and loved. While our continuum of care is broad, with services ranging in intensity, our focus has always been to ensure that all children have safe, secure, nurturing environments and caring adults in their lives. We know that an investment in the lives of children today saves lives, preserves families, reduces crime, improves educational results and provides the best possible future for our economy and our community’s health.

Two of our team members, Tiffany and Malika, had the opportunity to attend the Parents as Teachers International Conference this week, thanks to the support of the Oklahoma State Department of Health Office of Child Abuse Prevention.

The Parents as Teachers curriculum is implemented every day by our dedicated Bringing Up Babies Parent Educators as they support the wonderful families they serve. Through personalized education, resources, and encouragement, PAT empowers families with the knowledge and tools they need to be their child's first and most influential teacher.

We are grateful for opportunities like this that allow our staff to expand their knowledge, strengthen their skills, and bring valuable insights back to the families and children in our community.

CCFI would like to take a moment to honor the legacy of Dr. Shelba Bethel, a pioneer for Oklahoma women in the medical field. Dr. Bethel spent more than five decades dedicated to advancing women’s health in Norman, including the safe delivery of so many new lives into this world.

It is only fitting that our playroom specializing in Infant Mental Health is named after the incredible Dr. Shelba Bethel, where caregivers and little ones have healed from trauma and grown in attachment.

The CCFI community is keeping her family, loved ones, and all those that knew her in our thoughts.

A huge thank you to First Christian Church of Norman for their incredible support of our teens!

While we wait for our regular meal partnership to get underway, First Christian Church has generously provided several delicious meals for the teens at the Boys & Girls Club of Norman Teen Center at Reaves Park.

Their kindness is helping bridge an important need and showing our teens just how much this community cares. We are deeply appreciative of partners who invest in our youth and help make our Club a place where every teen feels supported.

A special thank you to our longtime volunteer and "resident handyman," Lee, for his incredible dedication to CCFI and Boys & Girls Club of Norman! Lee recently built and donated this beautiful bench for our Teen Center at Reaves Park, creating a lasting space for teens to gather and connect. He also helped design and build a new sandbox for our Club playground, which was assembled during United Way Day of Caring. His can-do attitude, generosity, creativity, and passion for our mission help keep our growing organization running smoothly while creating welcoming spaces for the youth we serve. We are incredibly grateful for all Lee does and the lasting impact he makes on our Club and community!
