LIFE LIFE: Leaders Involved in Futures and Empowerment LIFE is a program for young African-American men ages 16-29 that have sex with other men.

LIFE doesn’t require you to label yourself as “gay” to participate in our activities. We believe that men can enjoy sexual relationships with men only, women only and both men and women. What LIFE is focused on is helping young men who are sexually active with other men have safe and fulfilling relationships, experience personal growth and live a healthy life. LIFE is funded through a cooperative

agreement that ACCESS AIDS Care has with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as an HIV prevention initiative. Both agencies realize that in order for young men to protect themselves and others from HIV and other sexually transmitted infections that knowledge, skills, and support from their communities needs to occur. LIFE’s purpose is to deliver prevention in a holistic framework that accounts for a young man’s physical health, but also his mental, spiritual, social, environmental and emotional health. LIFE seeks to build a community of young men that can lead the fight against HIV for the next generation coming of age. Mentoring young men who are having sexual relationships with other men is an important element of what we do and our purpose. Imagine the difference for a young teen to be able to talk to an older peer about his feelings, fears, and behaviors, instead of feeling isolated because of his sexual attraction to other men.

We’re looking for a few more people to roll up a sleeve with us.

20 Settlers Landing Road, Hampton

Everyone who comes to give blood in August will receive a $20 Amazon Gift Card by email from the American Red Cross.*

🍽️ Restaurant owners and managers: Who’s helping fill your tables on Tuesday, September 29?

Thousands of restaurants across Hampton Roads will be open that night. Dining Out For Life restaurants have something different: a community intentionally choosing to dine with them.

You show up for our community by donating 33% or more of sales to support HIV care, prevention, LGBTQ+ health, housing, food programs, and other essential services at LGBT Life Center.

🔗 Sign Up: DiningOutForLife.com/757

And we show up for you.

We promote participating restaurants through paid advertising, email, social media, media outreach, community partners, and our ambassador network. Our ambassadors bring their own networks with them and help turn September 29 into a night when people aren't just deciding to eat out. They're deciding to eat with you.

Because when your tables are full, our mission and community move forward.

You have a seat at the table. Join us.

Most of us make dozens of choices every day without thinking much about them. But those small choices could add up to a huge impact if we make them with intention.

We fill prescriptions where our insurance company sends us. We choose a doctor based on location convenience. We spend $10 or $20 without giving it much thought. We decide whether to stay home or head out to something happening in the community.

But some of those ordinary choices can do a lot more than we realize.

Something like making the switch to our partner pharmacy may require very little change to your routine, but that simple choice can bring money back to LGBT Life Center and our community every time you refill.
The same is true when you choose The Clinic at The Center for your care, make a small monthly gift, volunteer, or show up at an event or group.

This isn’t about doing everything. It’s about taking another look at the choices you’re already making and choosing one that can also support LGBTQ+ people, people affected by HIV, and our local community.

A small change for you could make a very big difference for LGBT Life Center.

Stable housing changes everything. It affects whether someone can stay healthy, take medication, keep a job, care for family, and plan for the future.

On July 9, LGBT Life Center joined the Virginia Housing Alliance and advocates from across the Commonwealth for the National Alliance to End Homelessness’ Capitol Hill Day. Together, we urged Congress to protect federal funding for homelessness services and prevent proposed HUD changes from cutting people off from housing support.

The group met with staff representing 10 members of Congress, including both of Virginia’s senators.
For LGBTQ+ people, people living with HIV, and everyone facing housing instability, access to a safe and stable home matters. We’re proud to bring the needs of Hampton Roads into these conversations and stand alongside people working for fair access to housing across Virginia.

Everyone deserves a safe place to call home.

Healthcare should feel safe, respectful, kind, and free from judgment.

For National Health Center Week, we’re sharing a few words from people who have trusted LGBT Life Center with their care. Their reviews speak to what matters most: being listened to, being treated well, and getting the care and support you need without having to hide who you are.

From primary care, HIV and STI testing, and PrEP to counseling, pharmacy services, food access, and more, we’re here with care that sees all of you.

To everyone who has trusted us, recommended us, or shared kind words about our team: thank you. 💛
