🐾 VOLUNTEERS WANTED: BE THE REASON A PET GETS A SECOND CHANCE 🐾

Not all heroes wear capes—some hand out vouchers, answer late-night messages, and show up when it matters most.

We’re looking for self-motivated, compassionate individuals to join our mission of helping animals and the people who love them. Every day, families are forced to make heartbreaking decisions because they can’t afford care. That’s where you can help ART fulfill that goal!

šŸ’” We help cover emergency medical bills
🐶 We make spay & neuter accessible
🐱 We support Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) efforts to protect community cats

This isn’t just volunteering... it’s real, hands-on impact. It’s answering a message that saves a life. It’s being the difference between suffering and hope.

We need people who:
✨ Take initiative
✨ Care deeply and act quickly
✨ Can commit time, energy, and heart

If you’ve been waiting for a sign to do something meaningful—this is it.

Still hoping to raise some funds to help support our projects...

Hi ! Our Medical Assistance fund is going strong and we are saving animals almost daily. We were able to help 242 animals in 2025 at a total cost of $107,821. We are continually grateful for all those that believe in our mission and support us financially to help us continue the work we do!

Like other non-profits, we have seen a sharp decline in donations over the past couple of years. In past years, we would raise $10,000-$15,000 via social media. You can see how the decrease to $2635 in 2025 could affect us being able to help as many animals and families as we go forward.

If you would be willing to make a donation to help us with our Medical Assistance and Spay/Neuter projects, you can be assured your dollars go directly to helping animals in our community and as a result reduce the burden on our local shelters.

Freya (black and white), was in the shelter awaiting an adopter that would be willing to treat her heartworms. A responsible potential adopter researched heartworm treatments and filled out an application for medical assistance with ART prior to adopting Freya. She, unfortunately came to her new home with the additional medical issue of a UTI. But Freya's new person was determined to get her healthy and provide her a wonderful home. A new higher fence was even built to ensure she could not escape the yard. Freya is now in her new home with her new husky brother. She is still getting heartworm treatments, but is living her best life!

Could you help with a donation to go towards the $1000 pledged for Freya's treatments?

Dex experienced a sudden increase in pressure in his eye that can cause permanent damage and even blindness. Dex and his person were already grieving from the loss of a second kitty in the home that was 19 years old. In addition, Dex's person recently lost their home of 7 years. Needless to say, this extra expense to deal with Dex's emergency was unexpected. Could you help us raise the $225 needed to pay the vet bill to treat Dex's eye?

UPDATE (December 11): We are still in need of donations for Sadie as we are now helping assist with heartworm treatment.

Cute Sadie was rescued from a Florida puppy mill where she was used as a breeding mother. She was treated poorly there, abused and starved. Her rescuer got her to a local ER vet because she was vomiting and passing blood. After passing large amounts of blood, an x-ray was done that showed a potential intestinal blockage. Her people paid $2100 for surgery and no object was found. It has been discovered that Sadie is heartworm positive and she is awaiting treatment. ART has been able to assist Sadie's people with a contribution of $171 for additional exams. Could you make a small donation to help us recoup this expense so that we can continue to help animals in need?

Hi friends. We have a special request for a special kitty, George. Paxton Feline Rescue reached out to us to help George, who was trapped with a major injury. Unfortunately, the first vet he was brought to refused him treatment due to the fact that he was considered feral and aggressive. The second vet gave him a chance and was able to clean the wound and remove the maggots that had infested it. In addition, he was neutered when he was under. George will most likely have a major scar from this injury, but is expected to make a full recovery. ART was able to contribute $800 towards his care. Many thanks to Paxton Feline Rescue for helping this poor boy and to Billy the Kidden for also contributing to his care. If you are willing to make a contribution to ART to help cover the cost George's care, it would be greatly appreciated.

This is an oldie, but a goodie! We put this video out 12 years ago when we were still Animal Rescue of Tidewater. Our focus has moved away from rescue and has gone towards keeping animals from being surrendered to shelters through spay/neuter and medical assistance. Please consider making a donation!

Hi Everyone. Our Medical Assistance team continues to do their important work of helping animals get the medical care they need. In May, ART helped 22 animals (a few are shown in this photo) at a total cost of $8709.

If you could make a donation to go towards these expenses, it would help greatly. We want to be able to continue to do this important work, but can only do so with the continued generosity of our supporters!

Hi all! We need some help raising some funds for ADORABLE Goku. Goku broke his foot and his person used all his available funds to get him treated 2 weeks ago. Goku has needed to have his cast replaced which included sedation and will most likely have to go through the process one more time.

Goku's person is a server and has had to cut back on his hours. His mother has dementia and stage 4 breast cancer. After she fell recently, he has become her caretaker which has limited his ability to work.

Would you be willing to make a donation to help cover the costs of Roku's cast replacements (an expected $800 in total)?
