Newtown Neighbors and Newcomers

Newtown Neighbors and Newcomers Welcome to Newtown Neighbors and Newcomers! As you may have noticed, we have changed the name on our FB Page. Quite the opposite! So hence the name change.

Newtown Neighbors and Newcomers is a Community group that creates social occasions and links groups together to create a place where people can get together and meet their neighbors, and build new relationships within the community in which we live. As our name reflects, our organization welcomes both new residents and those of you who have lived in town for any amount of time. We recognize that p

eople are always looking to grow their interests and make new friends - and that's what we're all about. We (NNN) offer a diverse and exciting array of activities; from an afternoon at a local farm to poetry readings, hiking groups, bar crawls, neighborhood get-togethers at a local outdoor establishment, to anything else that we plan to do or grow into. We changed the name from Newtown Newcomers and Neighbors to Newtown Neighbors and Newcomers. The reason we have done this is that too many locals who have lived here for any number of years have said to us that they were hesitant to get involved with this group or join an event because the name made them feel that the group was limited to "Newcomers". That is the opposite message that we want to give out. This group is for people to meet their neighbors and to be able to come out into the community for a social occasion and to create new relationships, refresh old relationships, expand their circle of friends, and experience new opportunities right here in their own hometown. We don't want anyone feeling left out, or feeling like they cannot join because they are not a "Newcomer". With Covid, we had a series of fits and starts just like everyone else, so now we have a few new people who are joining in leadership, who have great ideas and energy so we are looking forward to getting going again. If you are interested in starting a group and you are not sure where to start, please feel free to reach out and we can help you to promote your group on this page.

Poisons used in bait boxes targeting rodents are called rodenticides. These poisons cause internal bleeding, a slow and inhumane death for any creature. Many non-target animals such as rodent predators succumb to secondary poisoning when the eat a poisoned rodent. Hawks, owls foxes and other mammals have been killed by rodenticide poisoning. Even dogs and cats are at risk. Read more about the invasive barberry connection in our website blog: newtownconservation.org
