🎒 Happy Back-to-School from the Rotary Club of Newtown! 📚

Wishing a great year to all of our students heading back to school—from elementary school through high school, and to those heading off to college.

A special congratulations to the freshmen beginning a brand-new chapter, whether it’s their first day of high school or their first days on a college campus. You’re entering a new world filled with new people, new experiences, new challenges, and opportunities you may not even know exist yet.

Be curious. Get involved. Meet someone new. Try something that scares you a little. And remember that every upperclassman was once a freshman trying to figure it all out too.

Here’s to a safe, successful, and memorable school year! 🎓

It was an exceptional day for the Newtown Rotary Club at the annual district awards and installation luncheon today. For the second year in a row we have the honor of receiving the Edward T. Osterman for the Outstanding Small Club (45 and under) of the Year Award. “Small” but we are mighty! A huge congratulations to Newtown Rotarian David Z Freedman for being officially installed as District Governor Nominee (DGN) for District 7980. His dedication to Rotary and to the tenet of “service above self” has earned him this distinction and our club the honor of having yet another member be chosen from our ranks to serve as a future District Governor.

What a great night at our annual Pass the Gavel celebration inducting our new club President Neil Chaudhary and some of our members receiving Paul Harris awards.

Neil was also the recipient of the very prestigious Frank Miles award which honors the Rotarian who quietly makes the club successful through consistent, dependable, and selfless service.

Our club recognized Newtown Savings Bank for there longtime support of our club and the community.

We were grateful to have a visitor join our club from Kanazawa Rotary Club Japan 🇯🇵 who also came to bring his daughter home after spending 10 Months as a youth exchange student with our club. It was an amazing Rotary Year under the leadership of now our IPP (Immediate Past President) Jennifer Chaudhary- 🙏

What a wonderful turnout tonight at the Dickinson Park 250th celebration of our country. Great Rotary team work as we pitched in to prepare burgers and hot dogs for all of the attendees. Thank you Newtown Parks and Recreation for putting together such a great event and letting us be a part of it!!

It’s been five years since we started the pollinator planting project at the fruit trail at Fairfield Hills. Tonight we added 28 more pollinator plants taking us over 150 plants planted in those five years. It looks, smells and feels wonderful to be among these plantings. Best of all - the bees love it. Take a look as you stroll by and be on the lookout for our rotary signs delineating our garden. We hope you enjoy!

Our Fourth Annual Newtown Rotary Restaurant Raffle is in the books and we have our three lucky winners for 2026. Congratulations to 1st Place winner Colleen Honan (15 $100 Restaurant Gift Cards). 2nd Place Wendy Morales (10 $100 Restaurant Gift Cards). 3rd Place Russel Keson (5 $100 Restaurant Gift Cards). Thank you so much to everyone who participated. All of our wonderful supporting Restaurants, all the people who bought tickets, Bagel Delight, Newtown General Store, Newtown Community Center for letting us sell tickets at their premises. Also The Newtown Bee for their perennial support and coverage. This has been a fun fundraiser for our committee and our club. We appreciate the positive vibes and love from our neighbors and we look forward to launching next year’s Restaurant Raffle. March 17th 2027!!
