Promoting Literacy, One Story at a Time
As part of the Rotary Club of Newtown's commitment to literacy and education, Rotarian Mary Ann recently visited local children to share the joy of reading. Accompanied by her certified therapy dog, Franklin, Mary Ann captivated young listeners with stories while Franklin provided a calm, comforting presence that helped create an engaging and welcoming learning environment.
Research has shown that reading alongside therapy dogs can help children build confidence, improve listening skills, and develop a lifelong love of books. Through programs like this, Rotary continues its mission of supporting literacy, fostering learning, and making a positive difference in the lives of young people throughout our community.
