Dake Kang, C100 and Pulitzer Prize winner, reports from China for AP - as a Korean American who grew up partially in Shanghai, he shared his unique perspective with us on his life & career.

"I think it behooves our community to be aware of and understand the complexities of being caught between the U.S. and China, two global powers locked in a tense, intricate dance and struggle with each other... Chinese Americans should be able to embrace their heritage and their experiences without being vilified."

The stereotype that Asian Americans are skilled, intelligent, and reserved may seem 'positive' but our new research with NORC at the University of Chicago shows otherwise. The 'model minority' stereotype has real mental health consequences & can minimize discrimination.

We sat down to chat with Emma Zang, C100 , Yale University Associate Professor, and lead author of our research coming out next week on the 'model minority' stereotype.

In her words: "No one tells you that in American academia, credit tends to accrue to whoever speaks fastest and most confidently in the seminar. Promise is often read through cues like voice, posture, and willingness to interrupt."

Laufey’s “Madwoman” music video brings together an all-Asian and Asian American cast across music, film, and sport. Seeing that level of representation in one place still isn’t the norm—and that’s exactly why it matters.

When Committee of 100 (C100) learned about the goal of Laufey's "Madwoman" video, we knew we had to be part of it.

An all-Asian and Asian American cast. A Taiwanese American director. An Olympic gold medalist. Millions of views in days.

For 36 years, C100 has worked to advance the full participation of Chinese Americans in American society. Not quiet acceptance. Full participation, in every room where decisions and culture get made.

Oscar Tang, one of C100's founders, joined as executive producer. He understood that the strongest argument for belonging is not always made in a boardroom or courtroom. Sometimes it is made by showing up, fully, in the places where culture gets made.

Our founders I.M. Pei and Yo-Yo Ma made the case for Chinese American belonging not through words but through undeniable cultural excellence. Laufey, Alysa Liu, Warren Fu, and this entire cast are doing the same thing.

We are glad to still be learning what full participation looks like.

"Madwoman", the official music video starring Laufey, Hudson Williams, Alysa Liu, Megan Skiendiel and Lola Tung premieres Monday, April 13th at 10 AM EST.Str...

For over half of U.S.-born , it's normal for others to assume they are foreign, and they're 3x as likely to feel they don't belong here -- our research shows this is associated with severe psychological distress. 😧
