Today is not just a holiday.

Today is for the heroes who left home wearing the uniform… and never made it back to their families.

It is for the mothers who still wait with tears in their eyes.
For the children who grew up without a parent’s hug.
For the families who carry a silence that no words can heal.

Freedom is not free.
It was paid for by brave souls who gave everything so future generations could live in peace, safety, and hope.

This Memorial Day, JIBON bows its head in honor, gratitude, and remembrance for every fallen service member who sacrificed their life for this country.

May their courage never be forgotten.
May their sacrifice always be remembered.
And may we continue to stand united as a community with respect, compassion, and gratitude.

নিউইয়র্কে বসে আমরা বাংলা নববর্ষ উদযাপন করলাম… কিন্তু মনে হচ্ছিল আমরা বাংলাদেশেই আছি ।

গতকাল JIBON-এর পক্ষ থেকে আমরা সবাই মিলে উদযাপন করলাম পহেলা বৈশাখ। প্রবাসে থেকেও এমন একটা পরিবেশ তৈরি হয়েছিল, যেন একদম নিজের দেশের মধ্যেই আছি।

সবচেয়ে সুন্দর ব্যাপারটা কী জানেন?
সবাই নিজের বাসা থেকে একটা করে ডিশ নিয়ে এসেছিলাম
আর সেই ছোট ছোট ডিশ মিলেই হয়ে গেল এক বিশাল বাঙালি ভোজ !
টেবিলে ছিল
পান্তা ইলিশ, নানা রকম ভর্তা, ঘরোয়া অনেক মজার খাবার

কিন্তু এই অনুষ্ঠান শুধু খাবারের জন্য ছিল না…
এটা ছিল পরিবার ও বন্ধুদের সঙ্গে একসাথে উদযাপন এর জন্য ।
আরো ছিল লাইভ মিউজিক, ঐতিহ্যবাহী নাচ, বাচ্চাদের খেলা ও বড়দের জন্য ক‍্যারামবোর্ড প্রতিযোগিতা ।

হাসি, আনন্দ আর ভালোবাসায় ভরে উঠেছিল পুরো পরিবেশ।

নিউইয়র্কের মাঝখানে আমরা নিজেরাই তৈরি করেছিলাম একটা ছোট্ট বাংলাদেশ ।

এইভাবেই আমরা আমাদের সংস্কৃতি ধরে রাখি…
এইভাবেই আমরা একে অপরের সাথে মিশে থাকি।
