From Legal Knowledge to Practical Mediation Skills ⚖️🤝
What does effective mediation look like in practice?
During the Mediation and Conflict Management training organized by the Legal Clinic under the supervision of the High Atlas Foundation, Master’s and PhD students moved beyond theory to experience the dynamics of a real mediation session.
Facilitated by Dr. Nasreddine Aynaou, the workshop explored mediation and reconciliation, family mediation within the Moroccan legal context, and challenges related to family reconciliation procedures.
The highlight of the session was a practical role-play exercise: students worked in groups of three, with one participant acting as the mediator and two others representing spouses in a family dispute. With direct guidance and feedback from Dr. Aynaou, students practiced negotiation, communication, and dialogue management.
The experience strengthened participants’ practical understanding of how mediation can help manage disputes, facilitate dialogue, and support consensual solutions.
