🎬 See Me Whole — a new short film by WADE

What happens when we stop asking women to be defined by what happened to them—and instead make space to see who they are in their fullness?

Created by WADE in collaboration with eight peer leaders of the Domestic Violence Project UJC , See Me Whole is a new short film shaped through listening, movement, storytelling, and creative exploration.

A body holds memory.
A life holds so much more. 🌱

Through movement, conversation, intimate filming, and personal storytelling, the women at the center of this film explore identity, relationships, dreams, humor, strength, memory, and becoming. 💫

See Me Whole is not a story about violence. It is a story about the whole person beyond it. 🤍

CALL FOR PARTICIPATION | WE ARE STILL HERE

WADE is creating a new collective artwork for our upcoming exhibition, From Violence to Voice, and we’re inviting women in New York City to be part of it.

We Are Still Here will be a large crochet banner made from many individual pieces created by women in our community.

You do not need to be an experienced crocheter. Your contribution can be a small square, flower, circle, chain, or any form you choose. It can be simple, colorful, imperfect, or unfinished.

There is no right way to make it.

Each individual piece will remain visible within the larger textile—a collective body created through many hands.

One woman.
One piece.
Many hands.
One collective body.

The completed banner will hang in the gallery window during From Violence to Voice, making our collective presence visible from the street.

We’re excited to announce that WADE is an LMCC 2026 Manhattan Arts Recipient 🎉✨

Lower Manhattan Cultural Council’s Manhattan Arts Grants funds hundreds of Manhattan-based artists, arts groups, and community-focused organizations for the public presentation of arts activities in every neighborhood from Inward to The Battery.

Support for Manhattan Arts Grants provided by , nycculture, Upper Manhattan Empowerment Zone, and Howard Gilman Foundation.

This year LMCC has helped fund our upcoming gallery, “From Violence to Voice”

From Violence to Voice is an immersive exhibition exploring the experiences of individuals impacted by domestic violence and their journeys from silence to voice, and from pain toward power and self-determination.

The exhibition offers a space for recognition, solidarity, and hope: a place to honor the courage it takes to survive, to speak, to reclaim one’s story, and to imagine a future beyond violence.

Our first workshop with Centro Antiviolenza Rimini 🧡

Every woman who joined us touched our hearts. Thank you to everyone who came. We are so grateful to have shared this space with you, and we are excited to see you again tomorrow!

Through movement, music, and art, we created a space for safety, connection, and joy in a world that too often demands silence. We invite you to open your eyes, move, and experience what it feels like to be free from judgment, to take the next step toward freedom.

Two more stops before we head back to NYC, and we could not be more inspired. 💫

Ogni donna che si è unita a noi ci ha toccato il cuore. Grazie a tutte coloro che sono venute, siamo così grate di aver condiviso questo spazio con voi e non vediamo l’ora di rivedervi domani!

Attraverso il movimento, la musica e l’arte, abbiamo creato uno spazio di sicurezza, connessione e gioia in un mondo che, troppo spesso, impone il silenzio. Vi invitiamo ad aprire gli occhi e muovere il vostro corpo per sperimentare cosa significhi essere libere dal giudizio e poter fare il prossimo passo verso la libertà.

WADE is collaborating with the women’s centers La Nara and Rompi Il Silenzio in Italy.

As a women-led organization working at the intersection of art and social justice, WADE is committed to supporting survivors of gender-based violence through movement, music, and somatic practices. Through workshops and community-centered programming, we aim to create spaces for healing, artistic expression, empowerment, and connection.

We are currently seeking support to help cover travel and living expenses for this important residency!

Your contribution will directly support our ability to bring these programs to women and communities affected by domestic violence, while continuing to expand a global coalition of advocates dedicated to healing, equity, and social change.
