Yesterday, we were honored to welcome the NYC Department of Homeless Services (DHS) and the Mayor's Office of Nonprofit Services (MONS) to Hudson Bay, our newest shelter site in the Bronx serving women over 50 years old.

Thank you to Reesa Henderson, DHS Administrator, Tamika Williams, Assistant to the DHS Administrator, Sonya Russell, Deputy Commissioner (Adult Services Shelter Operations), and Jenny Way, Deputy Director of Contracting MONS for taking the time to see our work up close. We were also glad to have Lantern Community Services’ board member Dan Kent join us for the visit.

We're grateful for our partnerships with DHS and MONS — thank you again for the visit and the opportunity to share what makes Hudson Bay special.

At Lantern Community Services, we believe the people who know what our tenants need best... are our tenants. 🏡

That's why our Food & Nutrition Team recently asked residents across our sites to vote on the programming they want to see. No guessing, no assuming — just listening and letting tenants lead.

Food insecurity is one of the biggest challenges our residents face, and we know that real change happens through consistent, trusted relationships — not one-off events.

By meeting tenants where they are and building programming around their choices, we're helping make healthy food access feel less like a hurdle and more like a habit. 🍎

On Tuesday, Lantern Community Services joined our neighbors in East Harlem for National Night Out! 🎉

We loved connecting with community members and sharing exciting news about our forthcoming site, Timbale Terrace. We also invited neighbors to write well wishes to students in our residences as they head into their first day of school — these heartfelt notes will be included in our back to school supplies drive!

Add to the fun, we had sidewalk chalk and temporary tattoos to keep the kiddos smiling all evening.

A huge thank you to our host, the NYPD 25th Precinct, for bringing the community together. We're so grateful to be part of this vibrant neighborhood. 💙

Lantern Community Services proudly celebrated our very First Annual Summer STEM Event, hosted by the Resident Learning Department!

Thank you to our STEM vendors HYPOTHEkids, KoKo NYC, Bio Bus, 1 Hour Tower, and Rocking the Boat New York City Fire Department (FDNY) AHRC New York City Foundation Bronx Financial Access Coalition Job Corps The Y GMHC NYC Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs Mom's Meals The Bronx Defenders for engaging our families with hands-on science and learning experiences that made this inaugural event one to remember.

Special thanks to all the planning staff for bringing this vision to life, and to every staff that volunteered to support setup, breakdown, and everything in between.
