Jordan Heath came to HLA in 5th grade when his family moved to New York from Jamaica four years ago. As the youngest of five siblings, Jordan quickly became known for his discipline, ambition, and drive for academic excellence.

Inspired by his math teacher, Mr. Mann, Jordan developed a strong love for mathematics, while his growing interest in science shaped his dream of one day becoming a doctor or medical business owner. Guided by his mother’s words — “Hard work always pays off” — Jordan approached every opportunity with focus and determination.

At HLA, Jordan thrived in the structured academic environment, earning consistent Principal’s and Honor Roll recognition. He also took advantage of HLA’s free SHSAT preparation program, which helped him reach an important milestone.

Outside the classroom, Jordan became an active member of the HLA Debate Team, debate tournaments, Jazz Band, and Music Theatre program. In his free time, he enjoys volunteering, helping other students with homework. He also likes reading, coding, and solving brain puzzles.

Everything became real the moment Jordan visited Brooklyn Technical High School for a tour. He immediately saw himself there and made it his goal. And he achieved it.

Jordan earned acceptance to:
- Brooklyn Technical High School
- Midwood High School Medical Science Program

A student driven by purpose, discipline, and curiosity — this is only the beginning for Jordan.

This year’s 8th-grade class is a reminder of what happens when students are surrounded by people who believe in them. These young people have earned acceptance into some of Brooklyn’s most competitive high schools through hard work, resilience, and determination.

At Hebrew Public, we believe every student deserves someone who sees their potential before they fully see it themselves. Through guidance, encouragement, academic support, and teachers who truly care, our students are empowered to grow into confident young leaders ready to take on the future.

These acceptances are more than just admissions letters. They are stories of growth, perseverance, and possibility. And this is only the beginning.

We had the best time welcoming colleagues from across the Hebrew charter school network to New York City this week! Leaders from our schools across the country came together to observe classrooms, learn from one another, and share best practices as we continue strengthening our network and mission together.

Of course, no NYC visit would be complete without a little fun. We made a trip to historic Coney Island, complete with boardwalk strolls, classic New York nostalgia, and plenty of laughs together.
