💛Today we join the world in marking the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. We honor one of our own - a young woman whose voice and journey show what leadership becomes when you create space for it. Marion joined HER Lab West Pokot hosted at Perur Rays Of Hope. in May 2025 to study Cosmetology, stepping in with determination and hope. Marion aims to graduate in April 2026 with skills that prepare her for dignified work and give her the ability to create opportunities for others.

She shares her experience in her own words: “I have gained skills that will help me support my family. When I graduate, I want to start a cosmetology business and employ persons with disabilities like me because I know we can. The support system at HER Lab has built my confidence and I now speak up. I ask parents and communities to protect and educate children with disabilities.”

Marion’s growth reminds us why spaces like HER Lab matter. She is building a future defined by dignity, agency, and impact. As we mark this day, Global Give Back Circle and its partners reaffirm our commitment to creating environments where young persons with disabilities learn, grow, and lead with confidence. ✨

Today on , West Pokot, Kenya: HER Lab, our Economic Empowerment Incubator for rural young women, welcomed community leaders, alumni, and families to celebrate the impact of the program. HER Lab is implemented locally by Perur Rays Of Hope.

We heard from young women who have grown their skills into real businesses, plumbers, poultry farmers, shop owners, creating jobs and inspiring younger generations.

Thanks to HER Lab’s partnership with Mastercard Foundation, these young women are shifting how the community sees the role of women in business in rural and arid communities.

As one graduate shared: “The skills I learned didn’t just change my life, they changed my children’s future.” These are the voices of impact, shaping the future of West Pokot today.

This week in West Pokot, Kenya, we saw the power of mentorship come full circle.

100 young women from HER Lab were mentored by three incredible Forbes '50 Over 50' honorees — Linda Lockhart, Wandia Gichuru and Flora Wahome Mutahi — who guided them through Suze Orman's “8 Qualities of a Wealthy Woman.”

Then something beautiful happened — those same girls became mentors to 700 older women, sharing wisdom, translating hope, and proving that when one woman rises, she lifts others with her.

This is what is all about.
