Wisdom Bridges is helping Thubten Shedrubling Foundation in Tawang, northeast India, to build a school and provide culturally appropriate Buddhist-based education to disadvantaged children in the Himalayan region. His Holiness the Dalai Lama has endorsed the project and, in 2017, personally blessed the site of the school. Our president, Tulku Tengyur Rinpoche, has developed a curriculum that integ
rates the scientific, philosophical, psychological, and cultural knowledge of modern and traditional education systems. The Tengyur School for the Development of Compassion and Wisdom will serve as a pioneering model of education that can be replicated in other Himalayan communities that are struggling to preserve their cultural, linguistic, and spiritual traditions. Wisdom Bridges was founded in 2020 to help remote and disadvantaged communities improve their educational, economic, health, and living conditions, and sustain their cultural traditions as a source of strength in today’s troubled world. We envision a world in which children grow to embody the universal values of altruism, compassion, justice, and inner strength; a world where education is accessible to all children regardless of their families’ economic or social circumstances; a world that treasures cultural heritage and diversity; and a world that equips children to meet the challenges of the 21st century.
