New York Insight is pleased to welcome internationally renowned Tibetan Buddhist artist and teacher Carmen Mensink for a rare in-person workshop on thangka painting, the traditional Tibetan Buddhist art of painting Buddhas, mandalas, and sacred images according to precise symbolic proportions.

On Thursday, June 11th, she will guide participants in drawing the mudras of Green Tara and White Tara according to the traditional methods of Tibetan thangka painting.

Mudras are graceful hand gestures used in Buddhist art and practice, each carrying its own meaning. In this workshop, you’ll learn about the mudras of Green Tara, associated with active compassion, and White Tara, associated with longevity.

The afternoon will begin with a lecture on Tara’s various depictions and their meaning. Then Carmen will guide you step by step in drawing them using the traditional grids and proportions passed down through her lineage for centuries.

Because Carmen is only in the United States once every couple of years, this is a special opportunity to learn from her directly.

No drawing experience is needed. This workshop is open to beginners, and all materials are included.

Most of us would never speak to another person the way we speak to ourselves.

The Inner Critic can be relentless: comparing, second-guessing, replaying mistakes, and telling us stories about who we are that may not even be true.

Join New York Insight Meditation Teacher and psychotherapist Gary Singer on Thursday, July 16th, 2026 from 6:30pm – 8:30pm ET, for a 2-hour workshop on using mindfulness to investigate self-judgment and cultivate greater kindness toward yourself.

You’ll explore how to recognize difficult emotions, interrupt comparison, soften the voice of the Inner Critic, and relate to yourself with more compassion and honesty.

Open to experienced meditators and anyone brand new to meditation.

Many of us struggle with racing thoughts, chronic stress, emotional overwhelm, or a lingering sense of disconnection.

Faced with these challenges, Buddhist teacher Fleet Maull developed Neuro-Somatic Mindfulness (NSM) Meditation, a path that can gently rewire your brain and restore balance through somatic presence and interoceptive awareness.

In this evening workshop on Thursday, June 4th, 2026, you'll learn how this practice can help you meet life with more presence, equanimity, and purpose.
