On Saturday, July 25th, over 160 FIT alumni gathered for coffee in 25 locations across the country and around the world from Milan to Mexico City. Thank you to our wonderful hosts for bringing local alumni together for a morning of fun conversation, shared learnings and ideas, and for some, a walk down memory lane about what it was like on FIT’s campus (we heard West Hollywood’s meetup included a yearbook show-and-tell from the 1970s!).

FIT Coffee Connections is a new annual tradition, and the 2027 date will be announced next spring. Until then, hope to see you back on campus this fall for FIT Alumni and Family Weekend, October 23–25!

Friday, October 23 to Sunday October 25, FIT invites you to return to campus and reconnect with friends during our third annual Alumni and Family Weekend—with a few surprises in store this year.

Good things come in threes, so here's what you can look forward to:
1. Visiting the Alumni Bazaar to discover up-and-coming brands owned and operated by alumni makers and founders.
2. Getting dressed up and celebrating the anniversary of your graduation amongst fellow alumni at the Decades Dinner.
3. Getting advice from career superstars or sharing your own two cents with current students at the Industry Networking + Mentorship Luncheon.

The full schedule—30+ events and counting—is coming soon. Plan your visit and learn more at fitnyc.edu/alumniweekend

Euro summer is almost over...but when you're an FIT Alumni, travel and discovery is year-round. After an overwhelming amount of interest, we are pleased to announce a second date added for an FIT Alumni trip to Japan, March 20-31, 2027!

⛩️ FIT alumni will cross the globe to visit Kyoto, Tamano, and Tokyo, experiencing the best of fashion from Ginza Fashion District to the birthplace of Japanese denim, with plenty of culture, history, and cuisine along the way.

👖 While in Tamano, travelers will have a chance to relax at a natural Japanese hot spring and take the ferry to Naoshima Art Island, followed by visiting a working indigo farm with a hands-on indigo dye workshop.

✈️ Registration for the second trip is now live. Sign up before spots fill up (our last trip sold out in less than an hour!) for the experience of a lifetime, shared with fellow alumni. Learn more at the link in our bio.

Picture this: you're a bright eyed freshman starting your first semester of college at FIT. You have big dreams but little time, between juggling assignments and an internship. The world is your oyster—if only you knew where to start. Whether you're 20 or 20,000 miles from home, moving to the Big Apple can be intimidating at first!

That's where we come in: we're creating the FIT Alumni Field Guide to NYC, a curated map full of hidden gems, cheap eats, niche cultural landmarks, and anywhere else (within the five boroughs) you'd recommend to an FIT student.

🍎 Submit your NYC Faves now through Thursday, July 30: https://forms.gle/6x5rJ8joAeFqMK6fA
🚕 We'll curate the best of the best to be added--if yours is picked, you'll be credited in the final guide!
🗺️ Incoming students will receive their field guide at Department of Student Life at FIT freshman orientation, just in time to explore the city a bit before the semester takes off!

Exciting news! Today, President Jason S. Schupbach today announced his plans to take FIT into the future with the launch of a new strategic planning process, which will outline our collective vision for how we open more doors together.

“The rise of AI is sharpening our understanding of just how valuable authentic human creativity is,” wrote President Jason Schupbach in an op-ed published today in Fast Company. “That is what a creative education tied to real world workplace experiences is designed to nurture.”

As an alum, your experiences, ideas, and hopes for FIT will help shape where we go from here. Learn more about FIT Future//Forward by visiting fitnyc.edu/strategicplanning

NEW! Have you ever wondered what your fellow alums get up to after they graduate? Us too! That’s why we’re launching a new social series, “Day in the Life of an FIT Alum,” and we’re kicking it off with Daniel Saponaro, AAS Fashion Design ‘02. Daniel is the designer behind Hutch (), a contemporary womenswear brand known for garments that are as functional as they are luxe.

Take a peek into Daniel’s day in the Hutch offices and showroom on Fashion Avenue, located in the center of the Garment District—just a few blocks from FIT.

After gaining technical mastery of principles he still uses today, Daniel founded his label in 2010. Since then, Hutch has become a beloved brand at retailers nationwide—you can find Hutch at Anthropologie, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, and on the brand’s website.

The brand’s effortlessly feminine, size-inclusive designs all start as sketches by Daniel himself, who believes that every woman deserves an “I feel pretty” moment. With bold colors and prints, Daniel’s infectious positivity shines through the collections of dresses, swimwear, and bridal ensembles that emphasize the individuality and spirit of the women wearing it.
