Laundry Workers Center Laundry Workers Center addresses the need for community-based leadership through member-led campaigns

Laundry Workers Center addresses the need for community-based leadership development geared toward improving the living and working conditions of workers in the laundry and food service industries, as well as their families. Our work aims to combat abuses such as landlord negligence, wage theft, and hazardous and exploitative working conditions, all of which are endemic in low-income communities i

n New York City and New Jersey. Laundry Workers Center's political philosophy is rooted in organizing workers and building their leadership skills and political power through a variety of worker-lead tools and tactics, including taking direct action at the workplace, serving as their own voice to media outlets, speaking out as member of this community, and acting as their own advocates at the negotiation table.

May is a month to celebrate workers and women💐 Today, we celebrate with our women's committee and some leaders. We have so much fun; we deserve some time to build relationships, get together, enjoy food, music, and play some games.

We are grateful for all the women in our LWC family. You are unique, strong, and powerful❤️

Thanks for your commitment.

Rally ✓ Education with legislators ✓

Child Care For All NJ made our presence known today. Parents and providers — mostly women of color — shared their stories directly with elected officials. The demand is clear: build a care system rooted in racial and gender justice.

This is just day one.

TODAY. Child Care For All NJ launches.

Parents, providers, and community members are at the Statehouse Annex Courtyard to demand a child care system rooted in racial and gender justice — one that finally values the women of color and immigrants who do this work and the working-class families who've been excluded for too long.

We're joining the national because this fight is everywhere — but our demand is right here in New Jersey.

🌟Support Salvador Pardo Campaign🌟

I want to share Salvador's story. For 18 years, he worked tirelessly at Dollar Depot & More in East Orange, often for just $10 an hour. After connecting with the Laundry Workers Center, Salvador found his voice and organized.

In retaliation, his employer cut his hours and eventually fired him on May Day.

Now, Salvador needs our help. He has lost his income and stability. Let’s show him that we stand together!
