A big thanks to 9/11 Day and AmeriCorps for helping us deliver World Cares Center's legacy healing arts program, Hope, Love, & Courage. Founded in the ashes of 9/11, this program brought healing through art to survivors and families. Twenty-five years later, Hope, Love, & Courage has expanded its reach internationally, helping people and families across the world process trauma through creative expression.

This September, World Cares Center brought Hope, Love, & Courage to The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, Intrepid Museum, Center Moriches Free Public Library, and our own 2026 Stars Under the Stars event as part of our 9/11 Day programming. We are grateful to our host sites, volunteers, and community members who helped turn remembrance into action.

Thank you to 9/11 Day and AmeriCorps for helping make September's "Ready Responder Training for 9/11 Day" sessions possible.

This month, World Cares Center trained volunteers from Staten Island Community Organizations Active in Disaster - SI COAD and John Jay College of Criminal Justice

World Cares Center started each session with the history of the events of September 11, 2001, with an emphasis on how tragedy turned into a legacy of community response and doing good. Critical life-saving training followed and included hands-on Stop the Bleed and Hands-Only CPR.

World Cares Center proudly honors the legacy of Tracey Forbes Rice with the 2026 Ready Responder Lifetime of Leadership Award, accepted in her memory by her husband, Chris Rice.

Tracey’s leadership transformed resilience into something deeply human, grounded in connection, compassion, and the belief that stronger communities are built together.

Her legacy continues through the people she inspired and the resilience she helped others discover.
