Congratulations to Billy Bustamante, FANHS-MNY's 2026 🎨 Outstanding Artist Awardee, honoring a creative who has made a real mark in their craft, whether that's performing arts, literature, design, film, or beyond! πŸ†βœ¨

Billy is a NYC-based Performer, Director/Choreographer, and Photographer who grew up in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, DC. His love for the arts was sparked at an early age, when he discovered he could recreate and perform Paula Abdul's "Cold-Hearted Snake" choreography for his family, a moment still preserved on VHS somewhere. That early spark carried him to Philadelphia's University of the Arts, where he studied musical theatre before going on to perform on Broadway in Miss Saigon, The King and I, and Here Lies Love, along with regional productions and workshops nationwide.

Billy is co-founder of Broadway Barkada, a Filipino cultural organization of over 200 artists that has raised tens of thousands of dollars for Filipino charities since 2009. He's also on faculty at Jen Waldman Studio and runs his own photography business, Billy B Photography, driven by the same purpose in everything he does: creating inclusive spaces where people can uncover their own "Cold-Hearted Snake" moment.

Congratulations, Billy, thank you for the spaces and stories you've created for our community! πŸ‘

Please join us to celebrate Billy and all of our 2026 honorees!

Congratulations to Noel Gamboa, FANHS-MNY's 2026 Contributions to Excellence Awardee! πŸ†πŸ‡΅πŸ‡

Noel is the architect and planner behind Little Manila Park, Inc. in Woodside, Queens, a new community greenspace celebrating Philippine heritage that opened in June 2026. Born and raised in Manila, his work helped secure the official designation of Little Manila Avenue, and he's now working to install a monument at the park honoring Filipino American COVID-19 heroes, rooted in the community's Bayanihan spirit.

Noel also champions Filipino music and dance as a weekend DJ and as "Mr. Pinoy Linedance," producing two CDs and currently promoting his single "Vamos Nueva York" (definitely check out his YouTube, especially if you're feeling rusty on your footwork!). He is married to Dori, and together they're raising their son, Miles, who graduates from medical school in 2027.

Congratulations, Noel, thank you for building a home for our heritage in Little Manila! πŸ‘

Congratulations to Joey Tabaco, FANHS-MNY's 2026 Lifetime Achievement Awardee, honored for his decades of service and dedication to building the foundations of FANHS-MNY! πŸ†πŸ‡΅πŸ‡

Born and raised in Queens, Joey's path took him from the 1964-65 World's Fair to 21 years in the U.S. Air Force and New York Air National Guard as a Weather Observer, Typhoon Chaser, and Hurricane Hunter, then a 24-year career with the National Weather Service across NYC. Since joining FANHS in 2004 and helping reconstitute the Metro NY Chapter in 2009, he has been a pillar of our community, with his family, including wife Jackie and their children and grandchildren, carrying that legacy forward.

Fun fact: "Riders on the Storm" by The Doors was adopted in 1971 as the theme song for all 9th Weather Reconnaissance Wing units, including the 53WRS Hurricane Hunters and 54WRS Typhoon Chasers squadrons that Joey served with. It also fits how his life goes to him! (the original sadly isn't on IG, but check it out!!)

Congratulations, Joey, thank you for decades of service and for helping build the foundation FANHS-MNY stands on today. We're so grateful for you, your family, and your legacy! πŸ‘

Please join us to celebrate Joey and all of our 2026 honorees!
