JOB OPENING: UHF is seeking a Chief Data Officer to strengthen the organization's ability to use data, evidence, and insight to understand emerging needs, identify opportunities for impact, and inform policy and programmatic priorities.

This new, key leadership role will oversee UHF’s data analytic strategy, priorities, and partnerships; data infrastructure and access; visualization and dashboards; and data governance. Working collaboratively across the organization, the role will help bring together quantitative analysis with policy research, stakeholder and community perspectives, and programmatic expertise to generate insights and inform action to improve population health outcomes.

UHF and the NYSDOH - New York State Health Department hosted the third event last week in the convening series "Implementing HR1 & Preserving Health Coverage in NYS."

More than 1,500 consumer advocates, funders, health plans, and provider representatives joined for updated guidance on the new federal eligibility and community engagement requirements—which affect 2 million New Yorkers—and ongoing plans to limit coverage loss. A video of the event and summary will be posted on UHF's website soon.

NEW: How can states fight back against federal bill H.R.1's cuts to health coverage? A new UHF report explores how New York and other states are mitigating the damage of federal actions that make health coverage less accessible and affordable.

"Like giant waves crashing on the shore, a series of actions by the Trump administration and a GOP majority in Congress have seriously eroded New York's health coverage gains," writes Peter Newell, director of UHF's Health Insurance Project and author of the report. "Now is a good time to identify tools to build back those gains and perhaps a bridge to a new Congress that is more receptive to federal support for state coverage initiatives."
