Broadway Community Learn more: www.broadwaycommunity.org We serve nourishing food, a welcoming environment, shelter, clothing, showers, and medical care. We serve.

Located on 114th Street and Broadway, we help hundreds of New Yorkers experiencing homelessness and hunger find community, food, shelter, medical care, case management, employment, and hope. Our Mission:

Broadway Community sets an abundant table, believing that everyone deserves justice, dignity, health, and wholeness. We serve one another – breaking down barriers of poverty, inequity, and privilege – until all are fed, in body and spirit.

Broadway Community is grateful for our long-standing partnership with Music for Food , an amazing nonprofit that coordinates benefit concerts in support of emergency food organizations across the country. We are especially thankful to them for organizing a special Kurtág at 100 concert in support of our work.

This Thursday, May 21st, from 7:30pm to 8:30pm, musicians will perform a program celebrating the 100th birthday of composer György Kurtág. The concert will take place in the sanctuary of Broadway Presbyterian Church, where all of Broadway Community’s programs and services are based.

This event is free and open to the public, with a suggested donation of $40. All proceeds will support the critical work we do at Broadway Community, helping hundreds of our neighbors experiencing homelessness and hunger meet their basic needs and improve their life circumstances.

Please join us -- it promises to be a moving and memorable performance!

We were honored to partner with United Way of New York City to share this powerful testimony at yesterday's , highlighting the realities faced by ALICE households (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed).

Please take a moment to listen to the moving story of our dear friend and community member, Lisbon, who dines at our soup kitchen each day. Now in his mid-70s, Lisbon continues to work to keep up with the rising cost of living in New York City -- a reality far too many older adults are facing.

We are deeply grateful for his bravery in sharing his story on-camera. We are also grateful to the United Way of New York City for supporting Broadway Community’s work, and to the Jets, Giants, and the many partners who make United Way’s impact possible.

Over the last several months, we’ve been so blessed to have Rae Milstead serve with us as a Chaplaincy Intern! Today is Rae’s last day, and it goes without saying that our entire community will miss her so much. Her smile, genuineness, compassion, and patience make her such a natural at chaplaincy and such an exceptional fit here at Broadway Community — and Bellevue Hospital, where she’s doing her next rotation, is so fortunate to have her.

Please join us in wishing her the best of luck on the next chapter of her journey. Thanks for everything, Rae! We’re so grateful for you and can’t wait to hear about all of the amazing things you’ll continue to do ❤️

Today was the last Friday meal of the school year led by our incredible partners at Columbia Community Impact, and we want to say a huge thank you to Ricardo, Imani, Sofia, Orion, Davis, and all the amazing volunteers who show up week after week to feed, welcome, and care for our neighbors.

Every Friday during the school year for the last 45 years, Community Impact and Broadway Community have stood side by side serving meals and building community, and we are so grateful for every student, staff member, and volunteer who has been part of this story.

We’ll miss you over the summer and can’t wait to welcome you back when the 2026–2027 school year starts in September!

Today, we were honored to host NYC Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services, Dr. Helen Arteaga-Landaverde, and NYC Commissioner of Social Services, Erin Dalton, for a tour of our programs.

We are grateful for their leadership and look forward to working together to address the needs of our neighbors experiencing homelessness and food insecurity.

On Thursday, April 16, we hosted one of our most memorable Community Tables yet!

In honor of his late grandmother's 102nd birthday, which was that very evening, Chef Tim created an incredible menu filled with some of his grandma's favorite recipes: strawberry spinach salad, Cowboy stew, and three entrée options — mushroom burger with avocado fries; “marry me” chicken with pasta and green beans; and glazed ham with potatoes and roasted asparagus. For dessert, guests enjoyed a choice of strawberry rhubarb cheesecake and Meyer lemon curd cheesecake.

We were so proud to welcome 186 guests, creating a warm, welcoming space for conversation, connection, and community. The room was full of joy, good food, and neighbors taking care of one another.

The evening was powered by 75+ amazing volunteers from the community and from our partners at the Bank of New York (BNY), who helped cook, serve, and greet our guests. We are so grateful to them, our staff, the Broadway Presbyterian Church, and everyone who helps make evenings like this possible.

Please save the date: our next Community Table will be on Thursday, June 11!

This is what partnership looks like!

Today, we’re celebrating our neighbors Kareem and Michael, who each signed a lease and are moving into homes of their own –- with the support of our dear friends at the Interfaith Assembly on Homelessness and Housing (IAHH).

Every Tuesday and Thursday, IAHH operates out of Broadway Community’s space, walking alongside New Yorkers navigating the complicated CityFHEPS voucher process. Last year alone, their team helped 30 people with CityFHEPS vouchers move from homelessness into permanent housing.

At Broadway Community, our specialty is getting people into supportive housing, while IAHH specializes in guiding neighbors through the CityFHEPS process (private housing). Together, we create real pathways for our neighbors to exit homelessness.

Please join us in congratulating Kareem and Michael, and in thanking the IAHH team, our staff, and all of our community partners who prove every day that when we work together, we change lives!

On Friday, we had the pleasure of being visited by our friends at Yaldaynu (), who held a pre-Passover food drive in benefit of our guests.

In addition to donating lots of yummy Chametz (food that cannot be eaten on Passover), Yaldaynu helped make some lemonade, presented a home-made Broadway Community sign to our team, and played with our emotional support dog, Baxter!

Thank you for your support, our dear friends!
