We're so grateful to have shared another wonderful evening of Community Table with 250+ of our neighbors yesterday! Thank you to all the amazing staff members and volunteers who worked hard to make it happen.

Dedicated in memory of our longtime Chef and Food Service Director, Michael Ennes, who passed away earlier this year, we worked hard to make sure that this Community Table was one of our most special yet. Chef Tim prepared an extraordinary menu, our friends from Juilliard performed beautiful music, and our staff and volunteers served with to utmost love and compassion, as always.

John Sisson and Yvonne Shields, two close friends and colleagues of Chef Michael who themselves worked at Broadway Community for many years, shared some words of remembrance. We give great thanks to Chef Michael's life, and for all the people his legacy continues to touch.

We remember by serving.

In honor of the 25th anniversary of 9/11, Broadway Community partnered with Knock Knock Give a Sock to undertake a major service initiative engaging young people in supporting New Yorkers experiencing homelessness.

Over the past several days, approximately 300 students at the Heschel School, HAFTR , and Manhattan Day School assembled 7,000 care kits for our neighbors in need. Those kits were distributed through The INN , Broadway Community, Project Renewal , and Care For the Homeless's Susan's Place Health Center.

And while the majority of our initial service projects have now been completed, we're not quite finished! We still have upcoming service projects with students at two other schools, which will bring the full initiative to approximately 800 students engaged and 12,000 care kits assembled.

We are deeply grateful to 9/11 Day and AmeriCorps for making this initiative possible, to Knock Knock Give a Sock for their partnership, and to the students, educators, volunteers, and community organizations who joined us.

What an incredible day! ❤️

A huge thank you to everyone who came out for Broadway Community’s 5K Walkathon today! More than 40 walkers joined us to walk in support of our neighbors experiencing homelessness, hunger, and other hard times.

Together, we raised more than $15,000 to support our work! These funds help keep our doors open and our programs running – providing meals, shelter, showers, medical care, case management, housing support, and so much more.

We’re especially grateful to our staff and volunteers who put so much time, energy, and heart into making today possible – and to every person who walked, donated, fundraised, sponsored, or cheered us on.

We’re already looking forward to next year!

Please join us in wishing a huge congratulations to our amazing Senior Case Manager, Liane Rivera, on being recognized with the Housing Hero for Excellence in Housing Placement yesterday by Homeless Services United (HSU)!

Liane began her time with Broadway Community as an intern in January of 2023. She then joined our staff as a part-time team member, and later became full-time in January of 2025.

With impeccable knowledge of NYC’s social service system, ironclad patience, and genuine compassion and love for the people we serve, and Liane has helped so many of our guests cross the bridge from crisis to stability.

Congratulations on your award, Liane! We are so proud of you and are so grateful for everything that you do to make Broadway Community what it is ❤️

25 years later, we will never forget.

Today is William's birthday, and yesterday, he got one of the best birthday presents a person could ask for: the keys to his own apartment. After months in our shelter, he finally has a place to call his own.

We are so happy for him and grateful to have been part of his journey. Thank you so much to Liane for all of her hard work helping William get to this moment.

We are so grateful to have the Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation as a longtime partner in our work!

For several years, the Foundation has generously supported our workforce development program, helping our guests build the skills and opportunities they need to move toward greater stability and independence. Their team has also consistently shown up to volunteer alongside us in our soup kitchen.

We were so happy to welcome them back this past Friday! Thank you to the Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation for continuing to invest in our community and in the people we serve ❤️

September 11, 2001 was one of the worst days in American history. Nearly 3,000 lives were taken, families were forever changed, and our city and country experienced unimaginable grief.

As we approach the 25th anniversary of that horrific day, we commit ourselves to remembering and honoring those we lost – and to carrying forward the extraordinary spirit of service, compassion, and unity that emerged in the aftermath.

We are grateful to share that Broadway Community has received a $30,000 grant through AmeriCorps to lead a series of service projects commemorating this important anniversary.

In partnership with AmeriCorps and Knock Knock Give a Sock, we will bring together students and communities across New York City to assemble 12,000 care packages for New Yorkers experiencing homelessness.

We will also bring guest speakers into day schools across NYC, helping a new generation – many of whom were born years after 9/11 – understand what happened, remember those whose lives were taken, and learn how New Yorkers responded by caring for one another.

🚨 CHEF TIM APPRECIATION POST 🚨

Anyone can follow a recipe, but what makes Chef Tim so special is the one ingredient you can’t buy at the grocery store: love.

Today he made lobster rolls and Chef’s salad, and what stood out most was the care behind every plate. Tim believes that everyone deserves to eat like royalty, regardless of their circumstances. He wants every guest who walks through our doors to enjoy an exceptional meal and leave feeling respected, valued, and cared for.

He’s incredibly humble and would much rather stay behind the scenes than receive recognition, but today we’re making an exception.

Chef Tim, thank you for leading with your heart. We are so lucky to have you here at Broadway Community ❤️
