"Over the last year, Pizmon has been a place where, through music and community, I have been able to find a safe space from the craziness of the outside world and bring that to others across the globe. By having the opportunity to spread 'Jewish Joy' I have been able to not only grow as a person and singer but as a Jew and help create a better world."
- Zachary Singerman, GS/JTS '27, 2025 Musical Outreach Co-coordinator
This New Year's Eve, Pizmon is reflecting on the year that we've had together. In 2024 we traveled to communities close to campus and to those further away in the tri-state area and internationally. We have spent our afternoons and weekends singing, learning, teaching, and facilitating meaningful musical experiences. We came together in grief and in celebration. We visited the synagogues of alumni (shout out Rabbi Jeremy Ruberg, Cantor Amichai Margolis, and Rabbi Rob Scheinberg), but mainly focused on fostering new connections with communities far and wide, from Pennsylvania to Denmark and Sweden.
Now more than ever, Pizmon provides uplifting Jewish community through a ca****la, both on-campus at Columbia and off-campus internationally. This coming year, with five fantastic new members, our Jewish a ca****la group will continue traveling to new communities, leading workshops and discussions, singing and schmoozing. We are so excited to continue in our pluralism-rooted mission, and are looking forward to sharing new music. Pizmon's Outreach Fund helps ensure we can do just that, assisting in underwriting travel and expenses which might be barriers to our mission.
