At Brooklyn Cat Cafe, we are proud to be one of the earliest cat cafes in the US, and the first to launch in New York City’s most populous borough. We’re the only cafe in the city run by a non-profit animal rescue organization. Our mission is to save our city’s cats, and we advance it by offering a hip and inviting destination where cat lovers of all ages can interact with adoptable animals – and one another – while learning about pet rescue and care together too.

Help us name Layne’s Big Baby!

It’s been quite a week. Baby was trapped last Wednesday night, and Layne followed on Friday night. Once they were back together, baby was so happy to be with mom again, and they’ve been sticking close ever since!

Right now this sweet kitten is going by “Layne’s Big Baby,” so drop your name suggestions in the comments. We’ll pick our favorite and announce it soon 🩵

This October, two of our favorite little spooks are stepping into the spotlight. 🎃

Meet Scorpion & Pina Colada, our October Cats of the Month and official Halloween twins! 🍹🦂

These two came to us as newborns, rescued alongside their mom and siblings from a hoarding situation. Their mom was severely underweight while caring for six kittens, so we’re so glad we were able to take them all in. They were raised in our kitten room, and now they’re brave, social, and loved by everyone they meet, including kids and other cats (and we think dogs too!).

They love to play, they love to snuggle, and they love each other most of all. Truly perfect angels. 😇

Our pet bereavement support group meets this Thursday, October 1, at 6:30 PM, with more pet loss support sessions on Nov 5 and Dec 3. Whether you’re grieving a loss from last week or last year, this is a space to be heard.

NYC! We’re ISO foster homes. We have cats waiting on us right now, and this is why.

Last month, at a colony we’ve worked at in the Bronx for over a year, we met a big black cat who was clearly someone’s pet before he wasn’t. Too friendly to be outside. We told him we’d come back before winter, once we had space.

Yesterday we went back. Instead of one cat, there were eight, dumped and scared.

We got four out: Catch a Flava (named after the shaved ice spot on the drive home 🍧), Lemon Lime, Black Cherry, and Blue Raspberry. The rest are still waiting.

Most flinch when you reach for them right now. That’s not who they are, it’s just what dumping does. They need time with someone patient enough to show them hands aren’t scary.

You don’t need an extra bedroom, a bathroom works fine! Every foster home that says yes is another cat we can bring in off the street.

Transformation Tuesday!✨

Cipollini and Chives are a tiny pair of kittens who are working hard to grow big and healthy! Found as tiny kittens with terrible eye infections, their foster has dedicated so much time and energy into helping these guys reach their fullest potential.
