Volunteering plays a vital role in building stronger, healthier, and more connected communities. When people give their time & skills to support local causes, the positive effects extend far beyond the individuals involved.
When 261 Fearless considers this with 261 Clubs, it can see the widespread impact of 261 Meet Runs.
🩺Community health
By organising Meet Runs, volunteer 261 Coaches help make physical activity more accessible & enjoyable. They encourage women of all ages & abilities to exercise, which can contribute to a healthier community overall and help reduce pressure on health services.
🤲Community services
Volunteering helps meet community needs. Volunteers support schools, charities, community centres, environmental projects, and other services that may otherwise lack the resources to operate effectively.
🫂Community connection
When people work together towards a common goal, they build relationships and create a sense of belonging. Trust & mutual respect develop and a ‘social glue’ is formed. This creates more resilient communities where people are willing to help one another during times of need. With diverse groups, the definition of who belongs & contributes expands.
In addition, volunteer-led 261 groups help women feel more connected to their local area. Group runs often make use of parks & community spaces, encouraging greater appreciation & use of local amenities. Some also take part in litter picks, improving public spaces for all!
🏦Community finance
Communities with high levels of volunteering often experience positive economic impacts. Volunteer-led activities provide services & opportunities that would otherwise require funding. 261 groups also attract participants to local events, races, and fundraisers which generate income for local businesses like shops & event venues.
Volunteering is an investment in a community’s future. It brings people together, supports essential services, and creates positive change that benefits everyone.
Through their time, dedication, and leadership, volunteer 261 Coaches help build healthier, more connected, and economically stronger communities where people feel supported & encouraged to be active.
