The scariest thing this Halloween is the one you can’t see. 👻
This weekend, millions of us will light jack-o’-lantern candles, gather around backyard fire pits, and fire up fog machines. All of them release fine particle pollution (PM2.5 and PM1), the kind small enough to reach deep into the lungs. And it’s the start of a season when we spend more time indoors, where that pollution can build up.
You can’t see these particles, but you can measure them. AirBeam Mini tracks PM2.5 and PM1 in real time and shows the readings on your phone. You can wear it or set it on a shelf, use it indoors or out, and the data is always yours.

Every breath we take tells a story about the environment we live in—and with the AirBeam, that story becomes visible.

This portable air quality monitor collects hyperlocal data, showing how pollution levels can vary dramatically from one block to the next.

By transforming invisible data into actionable insights, the AirBeam empowers communities, researchers, and policymakers to make informed decisions for healthier, more equitable environments.

Understanding our air is the first step toward protecting our health and our planet. 🌍

What if you tracked your air quality every day?

Same place. Every day. New data.

Understanding air quality over time starts with consistent measurements. With the AirBeam Mini and AirCasting app, you can use AirCasting’s fixed calendar to view your air-quality data day by day, making it easier to identify patterns and trends over time.

Turn daily measurements into a clearer picture of the air around you. Because understanding what you breathe starts with knowing how it changes.

Know what you breathe, every single day.

Heading somewhere without service? You can still measure the air you’re breathing. 🌫️

AirBeam Mini keeps recording when Wi-Fi or cell signal drops. It saves your measurements on the device and uploads them automatically once you’re back online. No buttons, no manual uploads.

Our new guide covers:
âś… Recording mobile sessions over Bluetooth, no internet needed
âś… Deploying fixed sessions somewhere with no Wi-Fi at all
âś… How much data the Mini can store (up to 4.5+ years!)
âś… Battery tips for long days in the field

Read the full article for all the details you need:

No Wi-Fi? No problem. If you’re taking an AirBeam Mini into the field, you don’t need to be connected to the internet the entire time to collect air quality measurements.

🌦️ The weather can change in an instant. Your air quality monitoring doesn’t have to stop.

Reliable air quality data matters in all kinds of conditions. With AirBeam’s waterproof sleeve, you can continue measuring air quality when the weather takes a turn.

Rain or shine, keep your measurements going and stay focused on understanding the air around you.

Keep measuring. Rain or shine.

Join the Webinar: Estimating the Social Cost of Air Pollution

On October 20, 2026, at 3:00 PM ET, join this webinar to explore how particulate matter (PM) and ozone pollution affect public health and how their impacts can be measured.

Learn about a new calculator that uses EPA-produced data to estimate the health and economic costs of air pollution, explore the implications of excluding these impacts from EPA regulatory analyses, and hear answers to audience questions.

🌎 Join the Global Week of Action to Stop Incineration!

From October 13–16, 2026, join GAIA members and communities worldwide to demand an end to waste incineration.

Incineration pollutes our air, worsens the climate crisis, and burns valuable resources. Together, we can champion zero-waste solutions that protect public health, advance environmental justice, and build a healthier, more sustainable future.

Let’s choose to conserve our resources, not burn them!

Learn more and take action:

Communities worldwide are mobilizing to stop waste incineration this October 13–16. Explore the global map, join free events, and take action with GAIA.

A new report confirms what many communities already fear: the unprecedented electricity demand driven by data centers and artificial intelligence carries real, significant risks to Americans' health, and the EPA is failing to protect people from it.

Former EPA officials and health experts have documented at least 30 federal actions that are making a more polluting AI buildout more likely, actions that put profits and speed ahead of public health. Families and communities living near this infrastructure should not have to sacrifice their health so the AI industry can grow unchecked.

We stand with the communities being asked to bear this burden. Read the full “Hidden Health Costs of AI Data Centers” report for an in-depth look at the risks, and check out the “Hidden Health Handout” for a clear summary of the pollution sources and the steps the EPA must take now:

The Hidden Health Costs of AI Data Centers AI data center pollution can make people sick. Instead of protecting Americans’ health, the EPA is making the health risks worse. A new report finds the unprecedented electricity demand for AI data centers carries significant risks to Americans’ health....

Did you know that living near a dry cleaner may be linked to a higher risk of Parkinson's disease?
A large study of Medicare records—over 180,000 Parkinson's cases and 18.8 million comparison participants—found that people living within 500 feet of a dry cleaner had 14% higher odds of a Parkinson's diagnosis than those living 4-5 miles away. The risk dropped the farther away someone lived.
The likely culprits are two chemicals historically used in dry cleaning, TCE and PCE, both linked in lab research to damage in dopamine-producing brain cells. And this isn't an isolated finding: a separate study using EPA air pollution data found that older adults living in areas with the highest airborne TCE levels had a 10% greater risk of Parkinson's compared to those in the least-exposed areas.

A nationwide Medicare study of 19 million people found higher Parkinson's disease odds among those living closest to a dry cleaner.

Once again, Trump's EPA is clearing the way for polluters to poison our air.

The EPA is set to eliminate all limits on planet-warming pollution from coal and gas power plants, the single biggest rollback yet in a two-year campaign to gut every major U.S. climate rule.

If it survives legal challenges, it could block any future administration from ever regulating power plant emissions again. This goes beyond deregulation: under this administration, the EPA is downright neglecting their responsibility to protect our air.

Generation of electricity is the second largest source of carbon dioxide and other planet-warming gases in the United States.
