In Europe alone, there are eight NYU alumni clubs—France, Germany, Greece, Italy, London, the Netherlands, Spain, and Turkey—as well as global sites in Berlin, Florence, London, Madrid, Paris, and Prague. Over the years, many alumni who call Europe home have opened businesses or have made a significant impact on their local communities. This next NYU alumni itinerary takes you across the Atlantic from NYC. With special alumni events like NYU Alumni Weekend in Paris and the Alumni Travel Program to Florence, and summer being an optimal time to visit, we wanted to shine a spotlight on some of the NYU people and places that make the continent special. Jeffrey Yip’s (WAG ’08) journey after NYU evolved into a career grounded in public service, storytelling, and a dedication to preserving community heritage. Beyond his professional work, Jeffrey has become involved with the Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA), where he and his father participated in the Museum’s Oral History Project in an attempt to preserve the history of kung fu schools in NYC’s Chinatown (his father has run and continues to operate a kung fu and lion dance school in Manhattan Chinatown since 1974). The two also worked together on their family memoir, Dragon of Concrete Jungles. Over 100 NYU alumni and friends recently returned to NYU Florence to celebrate their time living and learning at the remarkable Villa La Pietra, which has welcomed 15,000 students over the past 30 years. Attendees enjoyed the city sights, learned from NYU Florence faculty, and revisited the olive groves, the espresso breaks, and the golden sunsets over the Tuscan hills they first experienced as NYU students. See the link in our bio for more photos from this beautiful reunion—the first at an NYU study away site.

*GIVEAWAY* To bring the spirit of NYU Florence to the larger NYU alumni community, we’re raffling off a bottle of Villa La Pietra’s limited olive oil from their fall 2025 harvest. Grown on the Villa La Pietra grounds, the olives are harvested by NYU students. Marketing students also design the label in a competition each year! To enter, like this post and tag an friend you'd love to travel with in the comments.

Did you study at NYU Florence and miss the reunion? Send us a message to be added to the list.

Grazie mille, . Alla prossima!

As an institution, we mark the year with a hope that we moved things forward—by employing research and scholarship to address the great challenges of our time, by sparking vital conversations and bringing new knowledge to light, and by creating a community where everyone feels that they can flourish and grow.
