Our Director of Yiddish Programming, Kolya Borodulin, finished his Yiddish for the Entire Family program at the Mispachah Festival with this little joke. Should he get into stand-up? Take a full Yiddish course this summer at https://www.circle.org/yiddishclasses-summer2026!

Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Museum of Jewish Heritage last weekend for the annual Mishpachah Festival! Kolya led a dynamic Yiddish for the Entire Family class and Deborah’s dance workshop with live klezmer was a great way to round out the afternoon. Plus, we got several rounds of Arbeiter Ring in – all in all, a wonderful day.

Exciting news, we have a new page, New York Workers Circle School, to highlight our secular, progressive Jewish Sunday school where children learn Yiddish and Social Justice and see themselves as the change-makers of tomorrow. Check it out!

Hu-tsa-tsa by Fishl Kanapoff (words and music) was first printed in 1924. Kanapoff was a popular variety-show entertainer and this song would have been performed alongside dances, jokes, and other forms of comedy. The song was later adapted in the musical The Golden Land where it was sung by the acclaimed actor Bruce Adler.

Hear the song for yourself by going to the Yiddish Song Collection here: https://yiddishsongs.org/hu-tsa-tsa/

Over the course of 10 days, we were honored to connect with over 1,000 years of rich Jewish and Yiddish history, honor the victims of the Holocaust, and engage with the resilient revival of Jewish life in Eastern Europe.

The Workers Circle Jewish Journey to Lithuania and Poland this past May was a moving journey of remembrance, discovery, and bearing witness. It was presented in partnership with Taube Jewish Heritage Tours based out of Warsaw and we were joined daily by local tour guides, educators, scholars, and special guests. We would like to especially thank Professor Dovid Katz, special guest scholar in Lithuania; full-time scholar-in-residence, Tomasz Cebulski, Ph.D; and Rev. Mark Thompson ( ), political and human rights activist.
