Earlier this year, advocates from across New York came together for Albany Days to learn, connect, and raise their voices on behalf of the bleeding disorder and rare disease communities.

Through the READI and ASK advocacy programs, participants developed the skills and confidence needed to meet with legislators and champion critical issues, including access to specialized care and prior authorization reform.

In our recent magazine, we look back on an impactful weekend that culminated in 52 legislative meetings at the State Capitol, helping raise awareness, strengthen partnerships, and advance meaningful change for our community.

Yesterday, we came together for a fantastic afternoon on Long Island as families from across our community gathered at Fairfield Properties Ballpark to watch the Long Island Ducks take on the Lancaster Stormers.

With beautiful weather, great baseball, and plenty of time to connect, the event was a wonderful opportunity to bring together both familiar faces and new community members. The game provided plenty of excitement, including an impressive five foul balls caught by our young attendees! From cheering on the Ducks to enjoying ballpark snacks and spending time together, there was something for everyone. Thank you to everyone who joined us for a fun-filled day at the ballpark!

When Emilio was diagnosed with severe hemophilia A at age 5, his family was suddenly faced with navigating a diagnosis they knew very little about.

Through the support of NYCHC, Sugeidi and Luis found education, connection, and a community that helped them better understand life with a bleeding disorder. From Education Day and Unite Walk to Spanish-language programs, their family has built lasting relationships with others who share similar experiences.

In NYCHC's magazine feature, Sugeidi reflects on Emilio’s diagnosis, the importance of finding community, and how NYCHC helped her family feel welcomed from the very beginning.

On a recent episode of BloodStream Media's Podcast, Joe Stanco, Family Nurse Practitioner at Northwell Health and founder of the Hemostasis and Thrombosis Nursing Association (HTNA), discussed the rapidly changing treatment landscape for bleeding disorders.

Throughout the interview, he highlighted how advances such as extended half-life factors, non-factor therapies, and gene therapy are helping prevent bleeds and improve quality of life. Joe also spoke about the growing complexity of care, the importance of specialized nursing education, and the need for personalized treatment plans developed in partnership with each patient's HTC team.

Children with bleeding disorders hear “no” far too often.

Earlier this year, NYCHC brought together parents of children under 10 for a focus group to share their experiences, challenges, and hopes for the future. One theme emerged throughout the conversation: our community must find more ways to say “yes” by fostering confidence, independence, and opportunity for young people living with bleeding disorders.

From mentorship opportunities and family programming to educational resources and peer connections, the insights shared will help shape the future of NYCHC programs and services for years to come🩸.

One of the many reasons our Unite Walk was such a success this year is because of the creativity and dedication of our incredible team captains.

This May, Leonardo's Warriors took their fundraising efforts to the ballpark by partnering with the Brooklyn Cyclones for a special event at Maimonides Park. ⚾️ Through the partnership, a portion of every ticket sold was donated to support the New York City Hemophilia Chapter and the bleeding disorders community!

The evening featured a memorable moment as Leo threw out the ceremonial first pitch, and NYCHC was honored to receive a special in-game shoutout recognizing the chapter's work supporting individuals and families affected by bleeding disorders.

Thank you to Leonardo's Warriors team captain Francesca for finding such a fun and impactful way to raise awareness and support for our community, and thank you to all of our NYCHC team captains whose creativity, passion, and hard work helped make the 2026 Unite Walk a tremendous success. ♥️

As we reflect on Sunday’s Unite for Bleeding Disorders Walk, we’re filled with gratitude for the strength, generosity, and spirit of this incredible community. Because of your support, we have raised more than $196,000!

The Walk is about much more than fundraising–it’s a cherished tradition that brings us all together, honors those who came before us, and helps build a brighter future for individuals and families living with bleeding disorders.

Please join us in celebrating:
👟 Our 39 Team Captains, who shared their stories, inspired others, and rallied support for our mission.
👟 More than 1,200 generous donors, whose gifts of every size are helping create meaningful change.
👟 More than 20 dedicated volunteers, whose time, energy, and commitment helped ensure a successful day from start to finish.

Thank you for walking, fundraising, volunteering, donating, and standing alongside us. Together, we are creating a stronger future for everyone affected by bleeding disorders.
