A little Friday feel-good story. ❤️

When her grandmother, who is living with dementia, kept asking to go “home,” her family found a beautiful way to bring a piece of home to her.

Sometimes the smallest acts of love can bring the greatest comfort.

Wishing everyone a beautiful Friday.

A 93-year-old grandma who is battling dementia and keeps asking to "go home" to her birthplace in Germany was given a beautiful surprise when she was gifted a blanket featuring the house she grew up in. Gertrude "Trudy" Callahan is currently based in San Antonio, Texas, but her mind often takes her....

When nursing homes are accused of falsifying records for financial gain, families have every right to ask: What else is being misrepresented?

Were residents actually receiving all the care and services documented in their records? What other corners may be getting cut?

This is why transparency and accountability in long-term care matter.

Families deserve the truth. Residents deserve better.

Three Buffalo-area nursing homes submitted tens of thousands of fraudulent Medicaid claims by allegedly inflating rehabilitation needs, according to New York Attorney General Letitia James.

Carly Simon’s Parkinson’s diagnosis is another reminder that health can change the course of our lives, and the need for care can eventually touch any family.

That’s why we’re working now for a long-term care system built on dignity, safety and accountability. The care we may need tomorrow is worth fighting for today.

Big change rarely starts big.

It starts with one person who refuses to look away.

Be that person.

Speak up. Share. Get involved. Bring someone with you.

One voice may feel small. A thousand voices are hard to ignore.

The nursing home industry doesn't just lobby against oversight.

They also lawyer their way out of accountability — even after a jury verdict.

A $19 million verdict for a resident's death just got wiped out on appeal. New trial ordered. The family fights on.
The system isn't broken. It's designed this way.

Be the reason we stay in the fight. www.voicesforseniors.org

An appeals court has thrown out jury damages in a nearly $20 million nursing home case, ruling a lower court should have done so three years ago when it removed management companies from liability.

A diagnosis or disability can change everything. For many families, it can eventually mean relying on long-term care.

Most of us don't think about that system until we need it.
Voices for Seniors is working every day to change a broken system, protect our most vulnerable, and make sure families have a voice.

Because one day, it could be any of us.

No one is exempt. Join us.

Every family believes someone will be there to protect the people they love.

But too often, vulnerable seniors are left in a system stretched by under-staffing, lack of accountability, and silence.
It doesn't have to stay that way.

Real change happens when ordinary people decide to speak up.
Join Voices for Seniors as we fight for stronger protections, greater transparency, and a long-term care system that treats every resident with the dignity they deserve.

This story is heartbreaking on every level.

A 91-year-old man is accused of killing his wife after telling investigators he had promised never to place her in a nursing home. A promise born out of love and fear ended in unimaginable tragedy.

No one should ever feel that these are the only choices.
Families need better support. Seniors deserve quality long-term care they can trust. And caregivers should never have to carry this burden alone.

A 91-year-old man was arrested Aug. 1 and charged with first-degree murder after deputies found his 87-year-old wife fatally shot at their home, the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office said.
