Designating a beneficiary isn't something that should wait until retirement. From the day you are enrolled in the Fund, it is important to decide who will receive your account in the event of your death, and to keep their information up to date. Why? If you die before receiving your money, your loved ones could face a lengthy process to access your funds -- which may involve court. Additionally, even if you were a participant for only a short time, the Fund supplements a death benefit to your beneficiary up to $5K. Designating a beneficiary, or checking your existing beneficiary's information, takes only a few minutes in self-service. Here's how and why to put it on your to-do list this weekend: https://www.ywcarf.org/community/blog/why-you-should-review-your-beneficiary-information-today-and-often
