1500 women and men from all walks of life and from throughout New York City and beyond convened at and marched around City Hall to demand Speaker Menin stop the devaluation of care and torture of women by immediately submitting Intro 303 to end 24-hour workdays.
Women and men spoke out about how in our society today, people increasingly look down on care work. Washing clothes, cooking, and raising children all fall on women’s shoulders. Speaker Menin is a mother, too!! She knows very well that this is abuse, yet refuses to change the law! Speaker Julie Menin, are you deliberately trying to demean women and care work everywhere?
We will all continue to organize and spread our fight, and we will come back to protest Menin every three months until she passes the No More 24 Act. Speaker Menin, we will see you in January!
