On Oct 19, 2025, 250+ people attended the Flushing anti-casino town hall and condemned State Senator for selling out the community to support the casino. This is what our community looks like. John Liu, publicly apologize and commit to stop the casino! if you don’t right your wrong, you don’t deserve to represent our community.

The Flushing anti-casino town hall on Oct 19 was a great success! In the Muslim Center’s packed gymnasium of more than 250 community members, speakers who call Flushing home spoke out against the casino and demanded that State Senator apologize for his role in advancing the project and commit to stopping it. Community members also heard from current and former elected officials who spoke of their opposition to Metropolitan Park casino.

Following the town hall, community groups announced their next public action: a Community Rally Against the Casino at the Flushing Queens Library at 1 PM on Sunday, November 16. Flushing residents will gather in unison to say no to a casino in Flushing and demand that Senator John Liu, Governor Kathy Hochul and the Gaming Facility Location Board stop the Metropolitan Park casino.

Another casino DOWN! MGM has withdrawn its bid for the casino license in Yonkers. Now the three remaining casino proposals are all geographically close to each other. New Yorkers have made their voice clear: we don’t want New York City to be a casino town! State Senator ’s approval of the Flushing casino has led to death threats and racist attacks on our community. He is bringing hate to families in Flushing and Corona so that he can line billionaires Steve Cohen’s pocket. These cowardly threats won’t scare us off. In fact, it shows they are scared of people coming together! Join the town hall meeting on Sunday Oct 19 at 3pm at Muslim Center of New York (137-58 Geranium Ave, Flushing) as we make our voice loud and clear: NO CASINO IN FLUSHING!

A Community Advisory Committee made up of corrupted politicians unanimously voted YES to a mega casino in Flushing. Their sham “democratic” vote is just more fuel to the fire, because working people in Flushing are ANGRY. Our community is mobilizing to RAISE HELL and STOP THE CASINO. 

Not only one, but TWO casinos could be built in Queens - this is a rallying call for all of us in New York City! A corrupted vote means nothing when we are united. Join the march this Sunday at 1pm in Corona Plaza — and the Anti-Casino Town Hall on October 19th at Muslim Center of New York. Queens is rising up!
