It is with a heavy heart we share that Dolly Parton has passed away today.

Because of her grit and love of books, she was able to help millions of children receive free books from birth to age five- to locations all over the world.

What started in 1995 as a tribute to her father, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library was able to give away over 332,411,218 books...and counting.

She will be missed by people over many generations for so many reasons."

The Summer Reading Challenge for 2026 is over. Thank you to everyone who participated and was rewarded with their free book and a chance to win prizes.

The Flushing branch had 33 prize winners! Of those winners, 24 were won by stopping into the Flushing branch and paid for by the Friends of the Flushing Area Library.
