People are panicking about the novel coronavirus as it has increased to 28129 confirmed cases in China, and 12 confirmed cases in the US. Even some US airways are temporarily suspending flights to and from China, Chinese who are traveling in the U.S. decided to go back to China after the coronavirus is under control. However, the maximum duration of stay on a B1/B2 visa is 6 months. What should you do if you don't want to return to China yet, but your visa is going to expire soon? You should fill out the I-539 application for extension to stay!!

VOCA, as a non-profit organization that is dedicated to helping Chinese Americans and in response to the impact of this novel coronavirus on Chinese citizens traveling the United States, VOCA will help Chinese who are from Hubei province and using a B1/B2 visa for visiting, to apply for I-539 (Application for status extension) for free. Also, for those Hubei province students who can not return to the U.S. on time for the start of the semester, if you have any concerns or questions regarding your F-1 student visa, please feel free to contact us and we will provide free legal advice.

【10 Awkward Questions that Every Chinese will be Asked during Chinese New Year 】

Today is the first day of Chinese New Year, also known as Lunar new year, is one of the four major traditional holidays in China. On this day, the Chinese will gather around with their family members to celebrate the coming of a new year. Since some relatives and cousins only meet once a year, you will be tortured by answering a lot of questions every single day, whether you’re a student or a working individual. In order to help you prepare for the family gathering, we have collected these 10 frequently asked questions for you:

1. Which school do you attend?
2. What grade did you get this semester?
3. What company do you work for?
4. What about the company’s employee benefits?
5. How much money did you earn last year?
6. Do you have a boyfriend/ girlfriend?
7. When will you get married?
8. When are you going to buy a house?
9. When are you going to have a baby?
10. Have you gained weight? / Have you lost weight?
