Over the weekend, one of my children was suffering with - hmmm - you know, ‘stomach stuff.’ They were drinking water, walking, eating fiber, but nothing was working.
The suggestion of prunes came up. This child is NOT a fan of prunes, but under the circumstances they agreed.
20 minutes after eating the prunes, they were impatient, saying “When will this work??? It was not easy for me to eat that. I want it to work already!”
I found myself repeating the words I share with clients, “It can sometimes take time.” Yes, at times prunes will do the job faster, but the results will come with patience and effort.
There’s a lesson for all of us in prunes.
It’s not always comfortable. It could ‘taste’ or ‘look’ bad, but hard work pays off… eventually. The success of our clients are not from the work they’ve done today or a week ago. It’s the cumulative effect of weeks.
Like anything in life, sometimes we need to do the work to get the results. We need to remember it could take time....but oh! The relief of success. ;)
